The First Russian
Interesting figure, but I don't think it's the first russian by Dust Models.
How i wish they made the panzer prinz like this; i mean with the option to be mounted on a walker. Isn't this the first ssu soldier to made in 1:48 scale?
Looks like his walker is a pounder painted soviet style. Also looks like he will have multiple arms and heads.
Humm, in 1:48 it might be.

Looks like a Fury of Ivan to me, a variation on the axis medium walker.
I think it is the first SSU 1:48 soldier they have produced. It looks really cool too.
I never thought of painting the Allied walkers in SSU colors, but it might actually work. Not sure if Lend-lease would cover hi-tech VK stuff like them though. But if the SSU is having problems beating the Axis, maybe the Allies do send it. But if they are all enemies, maybe not.
I really like the looks of the russian model, very nice! The armour/uniform looks great aswell since it can be used for winter/summer, which I still find a little bit of a shame looking at the Allied models who look like wearing winter uniforms..
I like it. Thanks for posting.
good find. will have to add to the SSU. now back to those FJ...
Just before fire fireworks.
official mini or not?
Areus waiting more news.
Funny thought I saw the model and the Der Commisar song popped in my head. Don't Turn Around Uh Oh Der Commisar's in town uh oh. lol Theyll prob make a combo pack like the Panzer Prinz and the Jagdluther.
@ Areus
I don't think it is. I guess we'll have to wait until it is released by FFG. I surely hope they would release the SSU soon. If you check the map in cyclone they control almost half of the known dust world.Talking about the map, you guys think there would be storyline events soon where players would play an important part in the story? would we see a posted map in this site where player would see what territories their factions have lost or gained?

The thought of player driven world changes is always fun, but...how do you weight them? How do you decide the victory levels to win new territory or resources? How do you reflect that back into the game? What if (gasp), one side gains a decisive advantage?
@Algesan
Actually, I have no idea.
The reason I'm asking is because I think events like these make the game more interesting and give the players something to play for besides figs or pins (that i want actually). But if the problem is how to keep things in check, L5R run story-line events where players are given story-line choices, so the the story stays pretty much under the control of the story team. I don't know if it'll work for DT though.
Oh regarding the map I meant Blue Thunder not Cyclone. Sorry.

It is a lot of fun and will attract a larger player base, especially when you can tell your buddies; "Hey, we took over eastern Egypt after the battles last month and get a 1% (1-2.5%) bonus to our points during the next month for scoring a major victory." I figure the bonus to be small enough (given 300-500 point games as a baseline) to allow an upgrade a bit more costly unit since this would be 3-7.5 points.
Nice!
I think no lend lease... In the map you can see suspicious SSU occupied areas which should be in allied hands.
And the background points at that. Changed alliances and that...
@Algesan
I was just thinking that maybe if players were given the chance to affect the continuing story of dust it just might spike their interest a bit, much like the campaigns for WH40K. And sir, i was just asking a simple question, i hope you could tone down on the sarcasm a bit, because not all of us gamers are as knowledgeable as you on how things work in the gaming world. Thanks.
@Areus
Your welcome.

So do we know exactly how the Russians will be brought in? The options (as I see them) are:
1. Single walkers and squads sold separately
2. An expansion box set (Russian core set if you will) with 3 squads, 2 walkers, and a hero.
3. A whole new boxed set that introduces the Russians and the Vrill. This would be a stand alone game in it's own right.
Any other thoughts?
-Jeff
We certainly don't know exactly how the russians will be introduced. In fact we don't have any clue.
I would prefer a "Russian boxed set" introducing them, with at least as many units as we got for each faction in the original core set, or maybe even a little more, with some light walkers and heavy infantry.
I would really NOT like to get the Russians bundled with the Vrill.

The intention wasn't sarcasm, it was simply a question of how to do it in a fair manner. I actually think it would be a lot of fun and allow for more player interaction, just like the 40k events did. We'd want to balance out how the effect of tactical games work out on a strategic level.
My #1 problem locally is how to get any interest up at the LGS. The only way I know how to would be to get somebody else to do some demo games with me while taking up some of my free time. Now, I do tend to get to the LGS early, so I could set up a game and ambush the next 40k player through the door to get them to give it a whirl. After all it doesn't take too long to play one game.
