Does this actually count as being played from your hand? Would this be effected by fear of winter?

Is says "As if you played it from your hand. Does this actually count as being played from your hand, or how does this work exactly.

Thanks.

Previously, ktom has ruled that playing an event with KotS Robert (If Robert Baratheon is the only King character in play, he gains: "Any Phase: Kneel Robert Baratheon to play an "Any Phase" event card from your discard pile as if you just played it from your hand. Then, shuffle that event card back into your deck.") counts against the limit set by Fear of Winter. The reasoning is that the "as if it were in your hand" phrase is specifying the play restrictions that must be met (i.e. those that apply to playing a card from your hand) and Fear of Winter adds a play restriction to cards in your hand.

Think of it this way: If there was a Clansman character with an Arys-Oakheart-eque "after you play this card from your hand" Response, would using Crawn to play that character from your discard pile give you the "from your hand" opportunity you need to use the Response? It sure does - because Crawn says it does. (This isn't even all that far-fetched; think of using Crawn to play a Clansman when you have no other cards in hand - that would count for Son of Mist, wouldn't it?)

So, if using Crawn creates the "from your hand" Response opportunity, why wouldn't it also count against the "from your hand" limitations of Fear of Winter?
