Stay tuned for next week!!!

By FFGSteve, in UFS General Discussion

I would love it if it were Tekken, and Tekken is, from what I've seen, exceedingly popular in the UK, so it would shift a hell of a lot of cards. The only problem I'd have is that if it came out with a Darkstalkers set, my wallet would see a SEVERE deficit!

Bring on Lee! I need more silver in my life! :D

Tekken would be pretty awesome. Heihachi, King, Steve, and Bruce would all make it well worthwhile. Meanwhile, more Yoshimitsu is never a bad thing, and then there's the aforementioned dummies, bears, small dinosaur, etc. Besides...how hard would it really be to make a Paul Phoenix card called Prankster**?

Again, it's not that "ZOMG I HAET TEKKEN!" just that yeah it was pretty much expected.

Although I will totally play Paul Phoenix just for that one single move of his. You know the one. Also, King and Craig Marduk.

Falcon Pawnch?!

and i've been waiting for King-style chain grappling in this game since day 1.

wouldn't that new license be SC4?

or it was already confirmed?

or not?

because seriously, the only license i care about is SoulCalibur...

d0-0d next set is SC4.

i think that was the "half" license - SC4

so keep on caring, cuz SC isn't going anywhere anytime soon

If it IS Tekken, I hope Armor King isn't just **King**. That would make me sad goose =(

If it is Tekken, I wonder if they will have a Wang character card or whether FFG will attempt to halt the innuendo can of worms before it is opened.

"innuendo can of worms" sounds like one hell of an innuendo to me, so I think it's too late.

I'd ******* my pantz if it was Super Smash Bros, and the entire world would too.
((not gonna happen))

Dead Or Alive or Tekken are pretty obvious, tho.

Nah Shane, DoA is kinda deadbeat. Most are past the fad.

Ya Steve talks about that in our 2nd interview which is up for more info if anyone wants to listen to it .

Thanks for the heads up Scuba, I'll go check that interview out. :)

Back on topic, now that we know it's a license, I'd be pretty happy with just about anything. MK, Tekken, and DoA all work for me, as I enjoy all of the games and have characters I like from all three. If it's something that most people either aren't expecting or won't like (i.e. a non-fighting game license), I'm still okay with it because I'll buy it no matter what it is, to me it's just more cards to play with, it's just a plus if it is a license that I like.

if Sodom can't get made, then i do not see how Wang could be.

although i'd LOVE for Wang and Sodom to enter UFS. take that as you will :D

I hope it's actually a Fighting Game License, for all we know, it might not even be video game related!! And that worries me a bit....well, A LOT.

But if it is Tekken, that could be cool. Although I have a hunch if it is Tekken, it will be "Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion" and not "Tekken"...meaning it would only include characters from Tekken 6. So...that would mean no Alex! The dinosaur...of course. He might present a problem because there is already a character named Alex, and neither have a surname or anything to distinguish their names! Oh, and just being Tekken would also disclude Kunimitsu, Jun, Michelle, Forest Law, Angel, Devil, Ogre, True Ogre, Dr. Boskonovitch, Gon (though I doubt he'd make it anyway), Tiger Jackson, Jinpachi, Combot, and about 5 different Jacks! (and possibly someone else...) And...on the subject of Armor King, I'm pretty sure he'd get his own cards. Him and King are two different people (as a matter of fact, there were two different Kings)...I actually used Armor King in my username on a couple other sites...so that might be nice.

And come on, Panda! What could be cooler than that!? If you make a Panda character card, but she's like, terrible, than I will be VERY OFFENDED!

If you take the time to get past the "ZOMG BOOBS AND HALOEZ" then DoA is actually a very well balanced fighting game. The intricacies of the counter and reversal system are mind shattering sometimes.

Except that most of your damage will come from juggling, which is unreversable. It's like they put in a good system in the worst game they could.

After listening to the 2nd interview I have to conclude it's Tekken.

Based on the hint of relationship, it's within one of the current companies. Which presents a strong argument already.

Trying to do a deal for a card in a game....later 09...Tekken 6...

The only thing that dissuades me is the specific mention of non-fighting game liscenses.

DoA is a cool game, but it gets boring as soon as you understand that counters do way to much damage VS a normal attack, so no one risk attacking, both opponent turn around in circle, waiting for their opponent to attack, in an endless boring game of nervousness.

Soul Calibur 4 gets like that sometimes too <_<

That's when you pull out Astaroth, and say "Counter this! You filthy Maggot." and proceed to use his unblockable for half their life bar.

All this lack of desire for non-fighting games makes me sad.

That means no double dragon.

No Streets of Rage.

and no God of War... and with God of War 3 coming out... I was really hoping for Kratos & Company.

Yeah, that's the conclusion I've come to as well, especially since the only other fighting game that could be released later this year that UFS already has an existing relationship with is KoF XII, but I wouldn't consider that a new license. So, unless it's a game that doesn't have a confirmed release, or it isn't a fighting game, then it's most likely Tekken 6.

Obviously you've never played Bushido Blade then... *snerk*

Seriously though... if your opponent is just circling waiting to counter in DOA, then you throw them. And Homme, what are you smoking? Juggling in MUCH worse in Tekken, Streetfighter, and sometimes even Soul Calibur then in DOA.

Now the license I'd love to see would be Virtua Fighter. *drool* Sadly no one plays VF around here because it's too technical and the depth makes people cry. Then again, SSB is the big game around here...

Now I know this may bring about the end of the world...but I have to agree with Aslum. Can't at all get even slightly excited about teken, VF on the other hand...

I played Virtua Fighter 4 once, at a party on a night of drunken fun. I thought it was too slow, even the fast characters, so I never got to find out the 'depths' as it were, I'll have to take your word for it that it's technical.

Not to say that I would say no to a VF set, as the characters do look kinda funky, but I'm not as emotionally attached to them as I am to other games like SF, SC and Tekken.

The new license is obviously Tekken, it has been obvious since Steve Horvath was quizzed about it back the US Nats (or was it Worlds?) when he said "the new license is a game I really like, and I really like Tekken", which is about as subtle as hitting you in the face with a shovel with the word 'subtle' written on it. This should satisfy everyone, but for those hardline skeptics, wait a day or so until we get the official announcement.

btw, since it's probably gonna be Tekken 6 that's used for the cards, does anyone know if Tekken 6 has Hwoarang, Xiaoyu or Eddy? Either them or one of their strikers?
