Wood Elf Careers

By socratim, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Could anyone please post any Wood Elf Careers there are available and in which expansion one can find them? My Wood Elf player is unsure which expansion to buy...

The Player's Guide has ALL of the careers, all of the talents, all of the action cards and everything a player needs to play the game. It's a much better value than buying accessories and card vaults.

It's now mandatory beans at my table for the players to have :)

But this does not really help me. We want the cards. And thus we want to know which careers are available for a wood-elf and in what expansion they are. To buy the player's guide as a reference is extra money we don't really have.

Also, does it include all the careers of the expansions and adventure-sets? (Omens of War, Winds of Magic, Lure of Power, Signs of Fate, Blackfire Pass, ...)

Reading my reply again, it might sound a bit offensive to people trying to help... it isn't meant that way. gui%C3%B1o.gif

If you only want the cards from the individual sets, then you're going to be spending a lot of money, although you could get one guide and the vault and be perfectly well covered. Note, the vault does not contain any plastic stands for the stand-ups.

The players guide contains everything (careers, talents, spells, actions, etc.) up to and including the Witch's Song. You can use Strange Eons if you really need to print out a card (search strange eons)

My players just copy the stuff out of the guide that they need, but we don't use most of the cards anyways. Most of them are just clutter (I'm referring to the basic actions which condense better on that single sheet I referenced), and putting your career card on the table during a game is just asking for a spilled coke ;)

You may want to check out the reviews to make sure you're getting what you need.

Well, I have to rephrase myself:

We love playing with the cards. And we plan on owning most of the expansions at some time. But evryone has a tight budget. I myself as the GM invested in the Core Set and the Creatures' Vault.

Now the players think on what to buy. Since they are all seasoned roleplayers and know exactly what they want, the careers (and suiting actions) are very important to them. So knowing what career is in what expansion might give the incentive to pull out the purse. Especially with our Woody, since there are only 7 careers for the woody in the core set. Of course the career alone might not be the selling point, but if a cool range-career for a woody is in Omens of War, for example, I might convince him to buy that for the group.

Up to Witch's Song means Signs of Faith and Winds of Magic, right?

I pretty much know all the reviews. It's just specifics I am missing. And since the career-list on RPG-Geek ( http://rpggeek.com/thread/590408/list-of-careers ) and the card list on FFG's support page only list em till Signs of Fate and without race restrictions, I am kinda lost on what to tell my player.

I mailed FFG to ask if a basic thread to display all careers with their restrictions and 4 key-words would be okay. (waiting for the answer)

Correct ~ the guide is complete with winds of magic, signs of faith, etc. It does not contain: Blackfire pass, Omens of War, Lure of Power careers. Im not sure what oow covers for the wood elf.

The wood elf stuff looks thin in any case. In the meantime you'd probably want to reference the Wood Elves supplement from warhammer fantasy battles. It will give you plenty of fluff ideas on how to change a wood elf soldier to a kithband warrior.

All the guides (especially player's guide) are available via pdf as well: rpg.drivethrustuff.com/advanced_search_result.php

Heres some stuff from my house rulebook:

Wood Elf (Asrai)
Corruption threshold: 10 + Toughness rating
Racial abilities: See Core rules; also Disease resistance: Elves are extremely long-lived giving them two white fortune dice to all Disease checks.
NOTE: Wood elves in my campaigns are barely civilized compared to the high elves. They have a twisted and alien culture with strange habits and rituals that they refuse to explain to anyone.
Career Notes (house rule)
Apprentice Wizard (Spellsinger, Spellweaver, or Treesinger themes) - As apprentice wizard but may re-take apprentice wizard career to learn a new wind of magic. Cost is 2 extra advances. ~p20 WoM
Initiate of Wood Elf Gods: See SoF p.28

Homeland (also choose kindred below)
Athel Loren (forest in Bretonnia; largest enclave)
Laurelorn Forest (Nordland, Empire)

Wood Elf Kindreds/Organizations (roll d8)
Wood elves organize into small kinbands/kithbands rather than larger cities and communities.
Caidath (Wardancer kindreds, shadow dancers of Loec, Feast Fasters, Bladesingers and Deathdancers.
Selathoi (Winter warriors of the forest)
Laith-Kourn (Alters, shifters or wild-kin; animalistic)
Arahain (Sentinels, wayferers, hawkeyes and scouts)
Auryaur (Wild riders, Spears of Kurnous, Bretheren of Orion, Pyrewardens)
Nymraif (Waywatchers, Wood Haunters, Pathwatchers, Shadow Striders and Mist Walkers)
Yenayla (Glamourweavers, Shapers, Tree-Singers, Skin-weavers, Shadow-Walkers, Changelings, Wood-Seers, grovekin, Wood-shapers; act as emissaries to the outside world and maintain balance within the forest)
Lorhain (trading kithbands)
Naming: As high elf except more woodsy

Cool, thanks a lot!

That is very helpful!

No problem. There is a scenario that involves some interaction with Wood elves (not too much, but a good springboard) - False Pretenses.
