Okay, I'm not sure what the official ruling on how to do this is, but what do you guys do when a card effect forces you to randomly discard, or resource, a card from your hand? If my hand is large, I'll shuffle my hand, cut it, and place each card face down in front of my opponent and allow him/her to flip one card over, and that's the card I discard, or resource, to fulfill the requirement.

What do you guys do?

Opponent draws a card from my hand.

If it is a friendly game, I typically roll a die. If it is more serious, I ask my opponent to select one from my hand (shuffled and placed facedown on table).

I'm not a fan of die rolls, to finicky regarding matching the number of cards to sides on a die.

I'll just hold my hand up in a friendly game. in a competitive game I shuffle them and then let my opponent select one. I may or may not place them face down depending on the size of my hand.

If you only have one card in hand, can you randomly select one? Or is it deterministic, therefore not random?
