Err I must be reading this thing wrong cause it looks like it's easier to get a dozen best eldar blasters then a single guard issue lasgun. Do you want to roll over the number now instead of under?
There is no rolling. All you need is for the modifier for a acquisition to be less than the profit factor. For example, a Heavy Bolter is very rare and so has a +20 modifier. You then make it good craftsmanship for +10. This results in a +30 modifier which is less than your Profit factor of 39 so you can get the acquisition. I have updated the rules to include this example.

we should get a bunch of common quality conversion fields for the command staff and the librarian. Only works if we can get at least +1 to our Prfit factor, so we can use the burden points to get the necessary buying power.

In that case we should get heavy weaponry, for our troops then.
Instead of having to make requests for heavy weaponry for the troops we are getting and have gotten can we just make a combined check for 200 each of mezoa pattern meltaguns (rare) , flamers (scarce) and grenade launchers (scarce)? (i.e. avoid using 3 acqs just for basic gear?)

Ahhh I gotcha. We have 5 and 5 of us, so we can just split one for each if we want. Fields are nice, but with our armour we should be fine defenseivly for now, we should fill out what we lack. I was thinking about offensive and vehicles, namely a guncutter and rhino. I can fit one into my stuff if someone wants to grab the other. Even if we do get the thunderhawk repaired, it be nice to have a back-up armed spacecraft for us. Offensively we seem pretty good too, only thing we really need are grenades or a weapon upgrade if someone wants one. Grenade wise if we are making a mass purchase Toxin looks good.
Also forgot to put this in the last and no edit button here.....anyways for the trip Otto will spend the first part looking over our latest batch of mostly dead space marine. Once satisfied with that their condition no longer needs detailed monitoring, we'll probably spend the rest of the time looking through the various piles of loot for anything that catches his eye*not necessarily weapons/armour/whatnot*. If the major/captain bug him to do the other two tasks he would, but otherwise won't on his own initiative.

That is a +50, which is fine, but would cost you 2 burden points. That would be reduced to one if you did something to gain at least one PF.

You look through the stack of gear that was brought onto the ship which was mostly just throw in the armoury to save time. After looking through the plies of weapons, and other minor gear you come across a odd looking case. After fliddling with security lock for a short time, and entering your luck number over and over again, the lock accepts your password and opens the case. Inside you find a Teleportation Pack.

Eliza would like to convert the cargo hold to barracks for the troops that where brought on the ship.
I was thinking of using my acq for either weaponry for the troops or 4 good quality rhino/razorback.
Anyone else have any ideas, my job as I view it is to look after the troops as it were.
Also has anyone thought of getting a detachment of storm troopers?

You have a barracks, but it is not big enough for how many troops you have.

You took all you found, but you have only explored a small amount of the ship before leaving.
God I hate not having an edit button. APC wise there's the Rhino and Chimera *that I totally forgot about, it's in the Old Dark Heresy Apocrypha Vehicles*. Of the two the Chimera is probably the better option *more+much better weapons, carries a little more men, heavier front armour, Rhino has slightly better all around armour, repairs easier, and halves crits.* But the Apocrypha stats/availability/rules are little different then the later rules so be up to Timeless if we can use it. The Rhino is Rare.There aren't stats for a Razorback , but take the Rhino, knock it's passengers down to 6, and add turretted twin-linked heavy bolter*or it's other options* and your good to go. Tank wise the only one I know statted is the Predator and Land Raider, so dunno if we can get one.
As for more PF, I have no problem selling either some of the psy crystals *which I've assumed we are/will going to anyways* or some of the weapons, or both.

Ok, whoa folks. We are not selling our stack of Best Plasma guns, for the simple reason we just gained what, 1100 exceptionally powerful troops who excel in melee? This means that all of our armsmen can now be focused on ranged combat without unbalancing our force, and Best plasma weaponry is going to make that much easier to do. Not to mention the fact that we have an unknown number of Iron Men running around our ship, and I somehow think that these guns will make those a little easier to deal with.
Have you also considered that these guns are ancient, and so anyone who may know about these things might realize this is no common pattern. Those same people may start wondering where, exactly, they came from. With research or simply by snooping, they could find out about our little adventures, or at least that they want to know more, and either follow us or try to infiltrate our ship - something i can't imagine would be too difficult given the influx of men that's going to happen shortly. Just be cool.
As far as the crystal, we probably should not be selling it off at some back-assward planet. We're the sole possessors of this material, which is purely heretical and of xenos origin and may provide the key to negating the Warp. Do you not think that, just maybe, we may be able to find a better place to sell it then some silly little outpost? If we were to sell some here, it would be infinitesimal. We' want to introduce an extremely tiny amount into the markets to let all the major players have a chance to learn of it. Once they have, the frenzy will start as they all frantically try to find out who had this, where they got it, how they found it, what can be done with it, etc. Once we've consolidated our hold on the resource, and more importantly used the profits from these teaser sales to establish cold trade routes to more populous and prosperous worlds, we can start real sales for big money, at a massively inflated price due to the perceived rarity we will have worked so hard to propagate.
Basically, patience, and we'll be able to turn what we have from a couple profit factor into a trillion-throne multi-world empire. Do you not think that makes it a little bit worthwhile to hold off on getting an extra Flamer? Big picture.
For my Acquisition, I'll try to get my hands on a chem-lab, to help me practice with the toxins and the drugs. I seriously need a good source of toxins. If that's not something doable, I'd love to grab an Eldar Flip-Belt, and if I can tack it on for the extra 9 points a hand flamer. Ideally the Destroyer pattern from Inquisitor's Handbook but you know, I'm pretty easy about this sort of thing.
While here, i'd also not mind plying my trade as an Assassin, should the opportunity arise. A quick way to boost our profits on the journey and to further the legend of Grim, maybe get myself situated in the circles of authority in the criminal element out in the Expanse. So i'd imagine I'd use Common Lore or Ciphers (Underworld) to try to find a reputable, or at least powerful contact to get started.

I was not trying to sell most of the crystal or even a lot of it. I figure we show off a bit, make a few outrageous claims, and that would gain us something. But we would definatly have to send a chunk to the Librairium of the Blood Ravens, as well as a bit to the Adeptus Mechancus, I assume. But selling a pound or two after some demonstrations might gain us just enough to get 1PF.
You can't send it to the Blood Ravens. That may be all well and good for you as a member whose duty is to report such things, but for us, that means death and torture and heresy, or just death to keep the secret for the Blood Ravens alone. Or them being highly interested in the source, which you would tell them, which would just mean the loss of it for our own greedy, conniving purposes. In fact, you're kind of dangerous, and in more then just the usual space-marine-badassery sense.
Likewise the Ad Mech. We can only sell to people who do not have the resources to claim the source, or we risk losing it.
Again, I'm voting we put forth just a little, tiny amount to get the ball rolling on it. Something in the range of a USB flash drive sized piece or two, sold for a multitude of Gelt since it's unique and unbelievably useful. Word will spread from Footfall once we get some off the boat there.
