Question, I'm playing every weekend like saturday or sunday's and currently we're playing by the rules that the cylon are winning when the cylon leader is winning, which means both team can lose/Win depending on the agenda the cylon leader has.) (I'm not allowed to hit enter sorry to write everything cramped the forum wont let me hit enter for a new line to write on so I have to write it like this.. again sorry!!). Is this true, for I've been thinking abit, it does make sense but.. board game's are board games filled with flaws in the rules that just don't fit into the whole idea of how things would work really. I mean, comeon it's the leader of the cylon the cylon can't win if he loses. But... the rules (if I dont remeber anything wrong here now) stated that if you furfills your cylon agenda YOU win. Not the cylon's.. which means the cylon always win if they stop the humans from surviving and the humans always win if they reach the number 8 no matter what happens afterwards like (you get to no.8 at the expense of losing your last fuel point). so with other words.. the cylon leader is alone vs 2 cylons vs 3 humans... (In my game we are usually 6-7 players, I always play the cylon leader as noone else wants it.. and I kinda love being a cylon and to just sit there and chill, and helping and messing with the humans)
so question, is this correct summery Cylon can win even if cylon leader fails to furfills his agenda card or is it the way I think that if the cylon leader fails to fullfill his agenda card the cylon TEAM loses and PREHAPS so do the humans?
Cylon win when cylon leader win?
We've always played that the Cylon Leader is on his/her own seperate team because he/she has a personal agenda. Its thematic, considering that if the Cylons had completely wiped out humanity in the show, some individual Cylons would have been a bit upset. The Cylon Leader will lose or win seperately from either team; if he/she has the "Salvage Their Equipment" goal:
If the Humans win, the Cylons lose and the Cylon Leader loses.
If the Humans lose and the ship is undamaged, the Cylons win and the Cylon Leader wins.
If the Humans lose and the ship has 5 damage, the Cylons win and the Cylon Leader loses.
Thematically sometimes the Cylon Leader can claim moral victory even while losing (Cavil doesn't fulfill his goal but the humans get wiped out) but he still lost as far as we are concerned.
There's no doubt what the rules say: the cylon leader's fate is not tied to the cylon team unless his agenda says otherwise. I'm also with Skowza that, although there's plenty to not like about cylon leaders, I have no objection to the thematic implications of the cylon leader's fate being separate from the cylons. In the show, different cylon leaders had different agendas, and in the final analysis some obviously did not fulfill their agendas but I think I'd still count the cylons as a whole as "winners" based on how everything shook out. Maybe most importantly, tying the team's fate to the leader introduces a number of significant game balance issues that would have to be addressed. I'd be really careful about trying to introduce a house rule like this.
We have and actually.. it turned out VERY interesting and good =) As the cylon players now try to figure out what their real purpose is
As they try to understand just WHY their leader is not killing of the humans with the basestars and ****
