Scrolls!

By Bludgeon, in Talisman

Here's a set of cards created to work together. First some new equipment cards showcasing new "type" of item (not in the strict sense), then some adventure cards that make that equipment come into play. Feedback is welcome as always :)

Very cool cards! I like the split-up of the Royal Decree. More cards equals more fun, right? cool.gif

How about this scroll:

Writ of requisition

You may discard this scroll at the Castle to go through the discard pile to find an object of your choice.

BTW, I hope the Alchemist can turn that **** Cursed Scroll into gold for me... preocupado.gif

Updated versions of Cursed Scroll (fixed typo), Library (added writ), Scroll Bag (changed wording). And writ of requisition, but I changed its effects.

A new card:

I'm not one for creating over powered cards... but... in this case the Forger needs a little something extra. Simple grabbing one of few document types out of the discard isn't much for people to be enthused with him, as he doesn't really provide anything to help win the game along the way. I hesitate to give him benefits like +1 Craft.

And maybe he should be called The Scribe? What'd'ya think? It might conceptually open him up for other uses instead of another bonus.

Hmmm... maybe for enough gold with character of say Craft 6, he could turn a spell into scroll so the character could keep an extra spell.

Or maybe that should be some other follower. Just a notion you inspired with the work presented here.

I'm not sure. Among other things you can pay 2G to pass Sentinel. That's very useful by itself.

Yeah, that's certainly true!

I like the set of scrolls a lot except the reouisition.

At first i don't like the image of the card. it's too modern. And second..( you pay 2 gold to get this card, and you can actually take one armour( that actually cost 4 gold... ( that's cheating lol;)

Cool stuff indeed!

I wonder if the scroll of exile is too good.

If someone draw the library and it stays on the place for many turns, or someone draw the forger, that person can buy many scrolls of exile for one gold ( if he buy the bag too) and you can easily ignored all strangers( so also the hag.

I know that you must first draw the library or the forger from the deck to get this card, but if those cards are into play, I wonder how it turns out.

Have you try it already bludgeon?

:)

No, I haven't tried scrolls out yet. I rarely get a chance to play.

Yeah i know lol lengua.gif

But i am just thinking about that i can actually ignored the hag for one gold lol ( i hope that it don't effect the gameplay too much)

But that's just me. I like some cards that you have made, but i always wonder what will happen if you put created cards into the deck.

I like also the air elemental and the centaur, but i wonder how it turn out if i put it in the deck. The same for other cards like Harvest Moon or Ghostly Cell etc

I wonder how you all are thinking about this. Do you put the cards into your deck without thinking about the balance of the game or are you carefully with choosing cards to add to your deck?

You can't ignore the Hag with the Decree of Exile. You may ignore Strangers and Hag is a Follower in FFG edition. Even if you could, I wouldn't find the Decree to be overpowerful. Ther's only one Hag in the Deck and avoiding her with the Decree would be fine.

Bludgeon's Scroll expansion is interesting and well thought. I don't see any of the cards as unbalancing. I have to say that with the Reaper Expansion there's little Gold to spend in useful Items and Healing; buying Scrolls is an interesting option, but there should be more Bags of Gold in the deck, or cards that give you Gold as a reward.

I have look at the cards, and you are right gui%C3%B1o.gif

Maybe i am confused with the witch but it make it less powerful as i thought. But still a nice card.

The point is that i don't know what the balance of the game is.

that's why i am carefull with choosing cards. If i use for a example 30 enemie cards and 10 events with followers, then i am afraid that i messed up the deck.

i am wondering how other people are dealing with this. ( if they put created cards without thinking into the deck, or try to find a balance between different cards..

If i look to the reaper set or the main game, then they are more strength enemies than craft enemies(not fair i think..) and they are more non- enemies cards than enemies etc..( so if i use created cards, i try to keep that balance..

Or do you all think that it does not matter? I wonder how you all think about this..

Years ago i have played a cardgame from lord of the rings. It is easily to seperate the good and the bad side, so that each side has the same total cards into the deck. But with talisman, i don't know.
