new components in Premium sets

By FlorisH, in Dust Tactics

I had a look round the forum but couldn't find any mention of this yet.

Issue 65 of Ravage has a full page advert for Dust Tactics Premium models and it states that the Pounder comes with the commander pictured.
Not only that but the machine gun in the picture is a new design and if you look at the top right of the picture I have scanned then you will notice that the Laser Grenadier Sergeant has changed from the original model.

Wow, that's really cool. Really adds more interest in the Premium editions.

Well, per Dust-Models, whom I believe is the only company that makes the premium edition, still has the Core set listed as sold out. This may be coming soon and I think that is pretty cool, but we will have to wait and see. I know the Dust-Models guys post and comment on the Dust Facebook page. this may be where you can find an answer to this question.

You think the copmmander model doesanythng to alter its stats?

Yes, the Commander makes it easy to order to-go tacos at the drive-thru at Taco Bell. The normal models must actually get out of the tank and walk inside.

Very cool. I wondered when we would see repaints that were non-winter. I would like to see some desert themed ones.

As for the drive thru:

1. How on earth would he reach the bag?

2. NOBODY will eat tacos if they are stuck in a tank with me. Talk about your ammo-cook-offs.....

Dust Studios need to stop making us buy Premium Boxes to get cool figures. Lie the capped Sergeant in the Tank Killer's box. Now I will have to buy a Tank Killers Box, Laser Grenadiers, and a Pounder. And they will all be repainted.

You are correct. Having to buy the Premiums to get the cool figures sucks. When I called FFG about the Panzer Killer problem, i.e. buying the Grenadiers box to make the Panzer Killer unit and discovering that the figures you need are not in there, they told me that Dust Studio told them this would be a problem and to just tell people to use proxies. Now that really sucks.

Wait. What? The Panzer Killers are not in the box of Battle Grendiers? Well thats just pissy. I was hoping to counter the massed walkers I expect to encounter in both Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare with infantry tank killing squads. You know, two panzerschreck and 2 panzer fausts each squad.

Easy there. The Panzer Killers ARE in the Battle Grenadiers box. The thing is that the standard version doesn't come with the officer pictured on the box, just normal troopers.

The machine gun in the picture is the one that comes with the landing craft, minus obviously the shield.

THE 3 TROOPERS AND THE SERGEANT ALL HAVE PANZERFAUSTS IN THE BOX. A PANZER KILLER UNIT DOES NOT HAVE THESE. I HAD TO USE RECON GRENADIER TROOPERS WITH "SUNGLASS" HELMETS TO MAKE THE UNIT, AND HAD TO REMOVE THE PANZERFAUST FROM THE BACK OF THE RECON SERGEANT. HERE IS A PIC OF MY FINISHED PANZERKILLERS:

Easy there with the caps lock, sport.

Sorry, did not see it. I was too focused on posting pictures here. And no, you still can't make the unit with whats in the box.

So what is the weapon list for the Tank Killers?

2 big panzerthingies?

3 small panzerthingies?

The Panzer killers are 3 guys with assault rifles and 2 with Panzerschrecks

.

It is unfortunate that those who buy "The Gunners" don't get the pieces to make what is pictured for "Bot Killers". It's nice that DM (or FFG) basicly gave people the option of two squads without having to buy two seperate boxes.

However I don't mind that Premium sets come with a little more "flare". I think it makes them stand out against others like AT-43 (for lack of a better pre-painted comparison). I would be neat if DM sold a "parts" kit so that bashers has something to work with.

I'd like that too. I've built the DM Jagdluther and they make some nice resin.

IF there is a problem (and I can see clearly why there would be) it is because we were told that the ONLY differance between the Premium and the Standard version of this game was to be that the Premium version would be pre-painted. Everything else would be the same besides that of the cost in which we already knew that the Premium would cost more due to the pre-paints. With this information given to us at the very start I went ahead with the Standard version because truth be told I like the Standard version better and in this day and age I do not have the extra money to spend on the Premium version.

Bottom line here is that the lines got crossed somewhere because you can tell that the Premium version is leaps ahead of the Standard version in areas we were told they would be the same. Is this a game killer for me? No, I enjoy the game and will continue to purchase it and enjoy it when I can. With that being said I am dissapointed that they are not keeping true to their word on how the Standard version and Premium version were going to be the same.

Game on;

I really dont see much a difference. Sure, they have a guy leaning out of the tank or a guy with a cap instead of a helmet, but truthfully, as long as the stats are the same it doesnt bother me.

But I can see where you would be a tad annoyed from the modeling point of view, if you know, you wanted a guy leaning out of a tank or a guy with a cap instead of a helmet.

I may have came into Dust 6 monhs late, but I dont recall anything ever about them being 100% the same, though Im sure it must have been there somewhere.

Im more annoyed that you cant buy bits. Sure, I can buy bases, but I cant buy bits.

As this game has changed hands from AEG to FFG I can understand that some of the things said at the begining may not be 100% true anymore. Even if the game never changed hands, I can't blame FFG (or Dust Studios) for a change like this. As I understand the Premiums are direct copies of Vincent Fontaine's work or at least under his watchful eye. I can see him saying "you know these walkers are cool, but they would be the bomb if they had a dude on top. This assumes heavly on weather Mr. Fontaine uses words like cool, bomb, and dude in everyday speech. He may prefer "chill, kick'n, and perp"...it's really anybody's guess.

But still it would be nice to give model builders the option...

Apart from the odd collector, who is going tp pay $60 just to have a command figure? Buy the original one and ad a Tamiya commander. for a fraction of the price.
