Kings of the Sea

By Mykel The Vile, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I know this has been covered alot but there seems to be a bit of conflicting opinion about the capabilities of GJ's KOTS, especially in joust.

The reason I ask is because my mate is looking to buy a deck, either Greyjoy expansion or Targaryen core set deck. He did want Greyjoy but like me he has read some not so good reviews about KOTS, on a different website I think.

So just before he commits we just wanted to test the water on this, as I say there are other reviews on here that dont say a thing about the Greyjoys being weak and then we start to think, is it the old expansion that was insufficient and the revised set has now addressed the latter problems.

I read somewhere " that you should not touch Greyjoys at all " or words to that extent.

So just a general opinion on there capabilities in joust and melee and if you think as beginners h'ed be better off with a different house deck.

Cheers

I'm not a tournament player or anything like that, but I reckon Greyjoy can be pretty powerfull, especially in joust. Not sure how good they are straight out of Kings of the Sea though (I assume you mean the 3x re-print) I've onyl got teh 1x first edition, which wasn't even a 60-card deck straight off.

I'd definitely recommend getting the Naval Escort from Defenders of the North cycle- that and a few cheap warships, and suddenly a lot of cheap generic characters start looking pretty useful. Fishing net is also fun unless you're up against Maesters or Targaryen.
