"praying"

By pyrefly1986, in Talisman Rules Questions

Some abilities and spells either help add to your pray score or allow you to choose the result. (Priest, Knight, Vindication, Invoke favour, Reverence, etc)

My question really is what is "praying" as far as I can tell it done at the chapel, graveyard and the temple and some place cards from the adventure deck.

Is praying the act of rolling the dice and places like the mystic and enchatress or even the crags and the forest counted as "praying".

One of the rules in the game is you have to cast a spell to get rid of it, well on more then a couple of occasions a spell caster gets stuck with spell like "reverence" and the group is mostly evil or neutral or the good players either never visit a chapel or temple or just cant get lucky and land on the darn thing and the player is stuck with a uncastable spell. Could they cast that on any random roll instead?

thank you

Praying is only when the text (either board text like at Temple or card text like Shrine) uses the word "pray". Crags, Forest, City (Enchantress) none use that word so they don't count as praying.

Getting stuck with a spell you can't cast (at the moment) is part of the breaks of the game. You could get Counter Spell in a game with Troll and Ogre Chieftain as other characters, chances of getting to use your spell to counter one of theirs (apart from the Command Spell) are fairly low. What you can do is gain another Spell for yourself from some source, cast it legally, then Counter Spell your own spell, now you've gotten rid of the stalling spell and get back to cycling.

thought so just needed a confirmation ...thanks for the reply :)
