About Spoilers

By Collex, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hello all. I'm a newcomer to Westeros. I have read the first two books, but I'm waiting to read the next one due to time constraint (and a desire to read other stuff for a bit). Still, the LCG is really tempting me - I love card games, but TCG are just way over-expensive for me. However, I'm worried about spoilers. Does the game contains a lot? I'm not mending small spoilers such as "Sansa kisses LOras after a joust" or "There is a character in book four called Beth Greyjoy and she is a fat *****" but I worried of big spoiler just as "Melissandre is slayed by Davos after she offers Stannis in sacrifice to the Lord of Light" or "Sansa is raped by Lancel Lannister and give birth to a dwarf" .

So, can I play the LCG without fear of being too spoiled? Or am I better to stay away from it?

Some tidbits of the 3rd and 4th book are spoiled-ish in the card game. I played for a bit before I finished, and it didn't tarnish the experience at all. But there are some minor ones, if I recall correctly.

If you've got through the first book there is very little in the way of spoilers, at least not any you'd understand until after you had read that part of the book.

There is one major event in book three that you will be able to figure out if you play the card game a lot. I would be very careful if I were you. Once you're past the third book, there aren't any big spoilers that I can think of yet. Obviously, there are no cards spoiling events of the fifth book yet (except for Bones of ...)

I suppose this event is the Red Wedding? Yeah, I've heard of it, but I have no idea what it is. Apart from it being a wedding. And bloody, probably.

As for the Bones of... I was checking card lists earlier - is it Bones of a Child? Because I have no idea what it means or what child it refers too etc. I suppose that would be a spoiler as in I will understand what it means 20 pages before I should? Or really a big spoiler I'll get right then and there?

It´s not a big spoiler. I think after reading the third book you´ll have an idea what it´s about, but it´s not really a big surprise at all. I wouldn´t probably look at the old ccg cards, since some of the titles and artworks contained some really big spoilers about the last chapters of the third book.

And yes, i think others were referring to the red wedding, but luckily it´s hard to put the picture together.

I'd stay with core set only before you read first four.
