Fire wizard

Pyroblast says "roll one die and add your craft, if the score is higher then the characters strength, blah blah blah" Does this mean that the enemy or monster do not get to roll their battle roll and would just die/loss a life, with no "resisting" the pyroblast.

Example fire wizard comes across a Hydra STR4 and the fire wizard chose to pyroblast the monster. The fire wizard rolls a 1+4 craft and gets a 5...

The hydra would die because its strength is 4 or would it get to roll a die and possible break even and or win?

If you can kill the enemy with pyroblast, then you don't have to roll for the attack rolls.

The creature is killed.

In your example, the hydra dies.

Another question about the Fire wizard.

You encounter another character with him and use the pyroblast ability on that character. If you roll over his/her strenght and take one life, do you still have to fight the battle afterwards if that was'nt the characters last life?

The character whose turn it is may either attack or use one of his special abilities on the other character.

But on the card is says "whenever you are about to engage in battle with a character or creature". Doesn't that mean you can hurl fireballs whenever another character choses to engage you to?

Yes you can. If you succeed with the pyroblast, the opposing character must lose 1 life and you must then fight a battle with him as normal!

Yes the battle still takes place!

The Pyroblast special ability is a precursor to battle. So if you attack another character the pyroblast may be used before the battle takes place.

Hey Ell,

so,.. engaged in battle takes place before step 1 evade and step 2 spells?

I thought it was before the attack rolls were made.

but it depends on the characters ability off course. Minotaur can use his stampede when the battle rolls are made...

Minotaur abiltiy is not usefull as a precursor to battle..

Ignore the above post please.

No need for a answer anymore.

It was just a stupid question
