Anyone hear any new NEWS for the new expansions this year?

By Caboose, in Battlelore

Am curious if anyone has hear any new news about the expansions ? Just seems, based on the current pattern with FFG, that it seems they announce items on the News link about 1-2 months before they come out. Obviously that isn't written in stone and was hoping that perhaps by now [i know wishful thinking!] that maybe we might hear some more news.

Hopefully we won't get the usual type of news from the former company - or lack thereof - but would be curious if anyone has heard anything new to report?

Thanks Cab

Just Great things for BL in 09 gran_risa.gif

Of course that bee the word for the last 2 years demonio.gif but I'll give FFG the benefit of the doubt.Frankly with all that the BL Community has been jerked around in the past it might be nice to have FFG just say here are the next 2 Expansion on which we're working.Heros doesn't count we know thats on the way.

I understand why FFG probably won't do this but if ever a group of people were owed some information it's this Community. We don't need to see the light at the end of the tunnel but just show us the tunnel entrance.

Personnaly, I'll settle for even less. I don't mind even if they don't tell us what's in line until the product is released. Just as long as they pop up every once in awhile to say ''hi, we haven't forgot about you guys, we're working on something, and bla bla bla...'', which they have. They mentionned spring '09, they mentionned our wait was not in vain, good stuff coming up... All that's left to do is wait.

Fine by me.

After all, we've already waited two years, what's a few more months right?

I'll go with the first part of your statement. It would be nice if by the end of the month say,, they'ed 'PoP' in and make a little statement on the progress. If just to say everything is moving along as planned and we will announce more when all is ready!

I guess the main thing is TELL US SOMETHING.Just saying Spring 09 gets old especially as we're still in January!I really do think that given the history of No Information (not FFG fault) with this Game,it might help to get some Buzz if some announcement were made as to what future Expansion were in the works.

I guess that was already posted. Well, I tried.

Richard isn't FFG..but I'll take his word on it aplauso.gif but I was including his statement in my last post/rant.....I think the BL Community at this point deserves something more that just saying 3 Expansions this year.Heroes after all has been the next Expansion for what..2 years now bostezo.gif ,

so how about some real NEWS,what are the other 2?.

After all this is the group that waited a couple of years for the promised Great Stuff & got a paper map & Troll.I know all Game Companies like to keep their releases under wraps but BL at this time & place needs some real information and not t teases. The lack of anything new about BL became a problem for DoW and could for FFG.

FFG by now has surely made some decisions on BL concerning Expansions & the issues of how to package & release them and these were the same issues on which DoW never provided information.IMO it would be a benefit to BL customers to know the general direction of where things are going. What are the Expansions? It's not necessary to say Undead or Elves but it would be nice to know if they are new races ,are they a full playable Army or Specialist Units ,Creatures ?.

I'm not beating FFG over the head with this ,I'm glad they got BL & I have faith they will handle it well.My point is BL history for the past couple of years, with the lack of information is such that I think FFG should reconize this and make an effort to communicate some specifics.I'm not holding my breath but if they did it might jump start a great game thats been dead in the water for too long.

Completely agree with Old Dward,

I think the longer FFG wait to give us som real news about whats going to come the more of an uphill race it will be to get the buzz about this game started again.

Why, it is already a great game as it is. I love it even when I don't get any news. corazon.gif

Well, after DoW did a poor policy in 2008, the community might be a bit impatient. We are over here.
And we are also a little bit incredulous about the FFG policy, we do not know yet very well.

So it is to hope, FFG will come out soon and with clear words - more clearly DoW did - about the plans in 2009 or the next expansions! cool.gif

It must be, to keep BL alive and to reach new Players and Fans! It seems, DoW didn't knew that this is much important for a produkt like BL, as it is important for the publisher to sell it...

There are enough ideas for BL. DoW had some nearly ready to produce. What is the problem to get 'em out to the Fans?
It is not quite a good policy just to talk about a whole year, publish a expansion like "For Troll & Country" and than to keep silent until two or more expansions will be offered at a single blow... serio.gif

But the point is that it sure would be nice to know when/if Heroes will be released. We know it should be a pretty close (if not) to a finished product for release.

As well as hopefully get some sneak peeks at what might be in the expansion - like they do for the other games on this site. So far, basically really nothing. Not even a peep since they popped in the old site back in October saying we have some good things to do later on and that has been it. No new word or news or anything. Just seems to be the same type of sentiment we got from DoW - Yeah we know you folks want something but we aren't saying anything. And with really nothing new for over 1+ year (sorry I don't call the troll new), one will lose more people on joining the bandwagon. BL was in the top 10 games for a long while and now has gone down in rankings on the BGG. That should tell someone at FFG that maybe people are losing faith in the game and maybe some news might be order.

I am truly sorry for not posting on a regular basis.

This is due in part to being very busy with a number of other projects and also a recent reorganization at Fantasy Flight.

Don't give up... we have created plenty of material for BattleLore, we are just in the process of trying to sort it all out and determine how best to present it in the future.

We will all know more after February 11th, thanks for being patient and so loyal.

Thanks for the reply.

Tell them to hurry and sort it out, we've been waiting sooo long _its pre-sold,,, well, at least with me.

And I hope the 'busy with other projects' means we'll see N. Bonaparte this year.(he-he)

Great to hear some news from you, Mr. Borg!

The german language Fan-Community is bent on new stuff this year!
The WoB does a lot to bother the fans during waiting...

So we really looking forward to 11th! happy.gif

Not to complain in any manner, but also would be nice to hear from FFG. Sure I know this is one of many games by Richard but at the same time the game is owned by FFG as well. And sure Richard has just as much invested (well probably more so) than FFG, I hope this isn't the similiar pattern we have gotten before from the game manufacturer of basically "silence" or very little info at all. Since it does seem that FFG does promote other games and see no reason why it can't be hyping/promoting/etc this one as well.

Guess we'll see what news will come out on the 11th.

I am happy to hear from Richard, though it blows that neither Coltsfan nor Caboose know any more than the rest of us as they were two of the most active fan advocates in yesteryear and thus treated to a bit more inside info than the rest of us.

Probably doen't even need mentioning, but as we watch the meltdown of the economy in all sectors, some parts of the gaming world will also be heavily affected, so I implore all fans to keep up the noise and support on their favorites and not get forgotten about.

"AFTER"the 11th ?(hopefully we'll still be in February)Seems I've heard these songs before lengua.gif Plenty of materialsl preocupado.gif .Having no choice we wait ,but it seems rather odd that with all this material why FFG just can't tell us something NOW.

Ok a couple of weeks isn't all that long but again given the history of BL you would think they might realize the fan base deserves a little more than a rather vague date.I just really hope this time its worth waiting for & that it will real information that will give us a picture of where FFG is going with BL.

I am not too worried about BLs future.

FFG would be a fool to let an open system like BattleLore jump from their hook. If they mange to restart the hype like DoW did in the old days, they will have a cashcow. Just imagine all the already published expansions only waiting to be sold. FFG only needs to build up some momentum to buy in new customers for the game and can start selling away the existing material without any more efforts from their side.

The only problem now is the silence around BL. There are just too many games in the FFG portfolio and too many new coming up. BL is now just one of many. When I load the front page, my attention is suddenly spread among all the new info presented there. If I were FFG, I'd start a massive information campaign on their site, showing all the features, expansions, units etc. of BL. This would help to grasp the attention of new customers to the system. This and the new expansions will help to bring BL to the glory it deserves (well, I can't be objective after all gran_risa.gif ).

If I had to guess, I 'd say something like this is going to happen once they get Heroes sorted out and ready to go. After all, Heroes is really a core part of the system that was supposed to come out a couple of years ago. Once the basic game is "complete", I expect they're going to hit hard with the advertising on their site, putting it in a prominent position to attract new players while they get rolling with the other expansions that are likewise in the works.

Personally, I would just like to hear FFG's over-all plans for BL. Are they going to continue with the 100 years war theme (hope so), or is it going to be just another fantasy miniatures game (obvious bias here). If DoW did anything right with BL, in my opinion, it was keeping within the 100 years war and nationalizing the races...i.e. Scottish Dwarves and Spanish goblins. Personally, I'm not so enthused about Heroes, but would like to see the Holy Roman Empire's forces added (even if they are elves or what not).
