buy or not....? i need to know.

By solitear, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I own every expansion including road to legend and sea of blood.

should I buy this and start over?

buy this and remove old edition cards and integrate new edition?

does this update the original journeys in the dark or is this a reboot of the game system and hence a new product?

I play the RTL/ Sea of Blood campaigns almost exclusively so I am just trying to orient this product with my existing library. any input is appreciated.

This is complete reboot. The only 1e bits that you'll be able to use are the miniatures and even for that you need to buy the conversion kit. At least it SEEMS to be like this when you look at the information we've been given. Things might still change.

Whether to buy or not, that is up to you. Read some reviews and look what other Descent veterans are saying about the 2e. That will give you an idea whether the changes and 2e are something you would enjoy. I know I will get it as soon as possible, unless everybody tells me it is horrible broken boring game. Lets wait and see and play the 1e while we wait.

I think, even with the conversion kit, the majority of Road to Legend and Sea of Blood will be left behind. If you're only interested in playing the AC game, D2e won't give you much of anything, I don't think. I could be wrong, of course, but that's how it seems to me right now.

D2e will have it's own campaign system, but based on what I'm hearing so far it sounds more like vanilla with a (properly designed) option to carry over your heroes from one quest to the next.

Whether that sounds worthwhile to you or not is a question only you can answer.

Ok. i might still buy but I think in my mind I'll consider it a new franchise rather then a supplement to my existing collection.

Looking forward to the rules release :) i've been very pl.eased with almost everything they put out bu8t my closet is getting full ;)

I'm in the same boat. My gaming closet is running out of room as well. So I've got to be very careful which games I buy from here on out.

Of course this is Descent we're talking about here, so there's almost no question on wether to buy or not. I've got to have it!
