Deathwatch v.s Black Crusade

By Nedacus, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

I dont have any time playing RPGs like this and my friends don't really get into the lore and world of 40k like i do. So until I find some better friends I wanted to know if anyone has considered creating a vs mode campaign for pvp gameplay that might get a few people hooked that otherwise would not give role play games the time of day. any thought?

The truth is I dont have any friends so I'll just quit pretending i didn't spend 60 bucks on a book for a game I will never play corazon_roto.gif

Your best bet is probably to play some pbp games and that way get into it. Or you can write some 40k fan fiction which is a rather popular ocupation for fans.

thanks i didnt even know what pbp games were tgf google i will do that and hope to contribute to the hobby

You could try finding a hobby shop in your area and see if there aren't any people willing to play Deathwatch with you.

Sorry to hear about that Nedacus. Locklock seems to bring up a valid point, try your neighbour gaming store. If they do play warhammer 40k they may decide to join you. If they've never played a tabletop RPG, even better. Make new friends, don't be a stranger.

Nadacus, I more or less had the same situation, most of my players are lazy in reading the manuals, or novels, due to the fact that they are not totally fluid with english. But what helped me give them more ideas about the game, was showing them the movie ULTRAMARINES which you can pause and explain details of about the armour, or weapons how they look and show them in action. The battle cruiser, The Thunderhawk, the servitors etc. It allows you to explain the gothic detail in building construction.

I know the movie is rather a standard basic mission, but the visual aides are immense. Also introduce the setting gradually, piece by piece, it will take time, but in the end it will prove to be effective. I also handed out typical phrases of the Space Marines, "Glory!!, For The Emperor!! etc. And gave an xp award for those that made the effort to use these phrases in game.

Good luck, and never give up.

I also find the Army Painter in Retribution to be a good visual aid, and the customization in Space Marine will allow players to see a representation of their character in many cases, so there's that.
