I posted here a questioni about erasing the text box on a card. I was given some answers, but not very satisfactory, as they do not point to specific parts of the rules or FAQ. So here it goes:
Renly's Courtier abbility reads (underlining mine): Any Phase: Kneel Renly's Courtier to choose a non-unique character. Until the end of the phase, treat that character as though its printed text box were blank (except for Traits).
And Milk of the Poppy says the following: Treat attached character as though its text box were blank (except for Traits).
So this hints that there is a difference between the printed text box and a text box not actually printed (where I suposse the gained abbilities of a card must be).
If that is so, when attaching Milk of the Poppy to a character card which already has a dupicate, can it prevent the character from being saved by discarding the duplicate?
The FAQ says the following about duplicates: (4.2) Using a duplicate to save a character from being killed or discarded is considered to be a gained triggered "Response:" action. Thus, it is treated as a triggered effect and may be canceled, but because it is gained (and therefore an ability of the card attempting to use the response), a character who is "immune to triggered effects" can be saved by using a duplicate, as a card cannot be immune to its own abbilities.
Someone told me that the response gained from having a duplicate is considered to exist on the duplicate card. However, this should imply that there is a way to target the duplicate cards because they are a separate thing from the main card, and not just a text addition.
Can anyone clear my thought on this?
