How many challenges can you declare on your turn?

By pianoplayer3991, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

The rules weren't very clear about this. I understood them to say that you could ONLY do one of each, Military, Intrigue, and Power, for a TOTAL of three challenges. But some of the cards me make think that it might be that you can declare one of each on each opponent, for a total of nine challenges if it was a three player game. Can someone clarify this for me?

Many thanks.

If you could provide examples of said cards, we could help clear any misunderstandings of the cards.

But otherwise, yes, what Rogue30 said

I didn't really misunderstand the cards, I just thought certain cards would make more sense if you were able to more than three challenges. But thank you both. Its good to know i've been playing it the right way :)

There are some cards which modify the number of challenges - Storm of Swords, Breaking of Oaths, Empty Throne, blood-crazed screamer, after the mummer's ford, Edric Storm, KoTS Robert etc.

Specifically, the rules give you to 3 total challenges (1 of each type) per Challenge Phase, but you can use card effects to give you more.

There is no inherent "maximum number of challenges" per phase, provided you have the card effects that stretch the usual 3 given to you by the rules.
