Gen Con Indy 2011 has now come and gone, and fans of Dust Tactics have plenty of reasons to be excited. Our demo tables of both Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare were full throughout the convention as were the tables for the Dust Tactics Learn to Play events. In fact, Fantasy Flight Games had to bring in extra staff to help cover everyone lining up for the Learn to Play tables! The weekend also saw the first annual Dust Tactics World Championship tournament, and we unveiled some fantastic new walkers that have already started a buzz across the internet.

Having a blast

IMG_6257.png This year’s response for Dust Tactics in the Exhibitor Hall was terrific! We had demo tables running all weekend for both Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare , and players kept our demo staff busy with both games the entire time.

The Revised Core Set released with a bang as players rushed to our booth to snag copies of this great collection of units. We completely sold out of our Premium Edition Revised Core Set and had only a handful of regular Revised Core Sets remaining at the end of the show.

Players showed their appreciation for the exceptional paint work of the Premium Edition miniatures in general as we sold out of several premium expansion sets. Altogether, we sold an impressive number of expansion units, including the new Grim Reapers and Axis Gorillas .

Victory on the battlefield

On Saturday, we held our first ever Dust Tactics World Championship. A great group of competitors sat down for the thrill of competition, the camaraderie, and the chance to learn from each other.

The tournament saw a diverse array of army design, but in the end, two Axis players paired against each other for the final confrontation. When the dust settled, Christopher Smith defeated Dan Calloway in an excellent match in which his Axis Gorillas managed to elude artillery fire directed by Dan’s Special Ops Grenadiers long enough to rush into close combat and claim the win.

Players told us they had a great time, they were excited about where the game was going, and they were blown away by the new heavy walkers we had on display. We were fortunate to host such a great group of players who clearly loved playing the game.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Dust Tactics World Championship and wondering what the armies will look like.

Advanced technology

Maybe we’ll see some of these in next year’s Dust Tactics armies…
