Question about playing dark heresy online

By Brother Nicodemus, in Dark Heresy

So I have been playing Dark heresy for a few months and am thinking about looking for an online group to play with, problem is I have never done a pen and paper rpg online before. So I was hoping someone out there could give me some info on how this sort of thing works.

How do you keep track of dice? What method of communication is typically used? How is it playing with people from other time zones?

There is a few map program where you can have a grid and play with that. OpenRPG for example. I think the program got an intergrated dice roller

I use mIRC as a medium for the game; no grid map, more description; so if you need visual aid it might not be the best. As for dice rolling, I have a program that does it in mIRC.

As for playing with people form other timezones, not much diffrent than playing wiht people in your time zone, if only that it might be the middle of the night for them or early in the morning.

I got a wiki site for the game in my signature, if you want to look it up; I got players from the West Coast, Europe, Mid-West, South-West; of course you got to arange a good time for everyone to get together, but when that's done the rest is easy doings.
