House/Agenda Breakdown for Joust

By Maester_LUke, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I did the breakdowns of joust decklist for Jaffer but didn't keep a copy for myself, so this is from memory.

10 Stark (4 SoW, 2 KotHH, 2 CoS, 1 FF/LG,1 No Agenda)

10 Lannister (3 TMP, 2 CoS, 5 No Agenda

11 Baratheon (5 TMP, 2 KotR, 2 KoW, 1 KoS, 1 Allliance-Martell)

13 Greyjoy (8 KoW, 2 TMP, 1 FF/LG, 1 Alliance-Bara, 1 No Agenda)

6 Targ (2 KoS, 1 TMP, 1 HttIT, 1 KotHH, 1 No Agenda)

22 Martell (13 KoS, 7 BwB, 1 KotHH, 1 TMP)

16 King of Summer, 12 The Maester's Path, 10 Kings of Winter, 7 Brotherhood without Banners, 4 Knights of the Hollow Hill, 4 Siege of Winterfell, 4 City of Shadows, 2 Knights of the Realm, 2 Double Wildling, 2 Alliance (B>M, G>B), 1 Heir to the Iron Throne and 8 No Agenda

The most significant overlaps to note were Bara/Maesters, Greyjoy/Winter, Martell/Brotherhood and Martell/Summer, but I think that was too be expected.

The Top 16 featured:

#1,2,4,6,7,8,9,12 playing Martell/Summer, 2 wins (Butzlaff, Benton)

#3 playing Martell/Knights of the Hollow Hill, 3 wins, #2

#5 playing Lannister/City of Shadows, 1 win

#10 playing Targaryen/Maesters Path, 2 wins, #T3

#11 playing Greyjoy/Winter Path, 1 win

#13 playing Greyjoy/Maesters Path, 2 wins, #T3

#14, 16 playing Baratheon/Maesters Path, 4 wins, #1

#15 playing Baratheon/Alliance Martell

Top 4 included seeds #3 Martell/KotHH, #10 Targaryen/Maesters, #13 Greyjoy/Maesters, & #16 Greyjoy/Maesters. The seven Martell/Summer decks won a total of two games, and did not beat a Maester deck in four match ups, all 3 Maester decks winning at least one of said matches.

For reference from someone else's post:

1. Corey Faherty (baragwin -- only 6-0 ~must have had king-maked by six players)

16. Brett Zeiler (IntentionallyAnonymous)

8. Jonathan Benton (longclaw)

9. Kevin McCoy (kpmccoy21)

5. Ramesses DeLeon

12. Wade Freeman

4. Chad Baumgardt

13. Casey Galvan

3. Greg Atkinson (Dobbler)

14. Jonathan Andrews (darknoj)

6. Evan Fitzgerald (papalorax?)

11. John Bruno (mathlete)

7. Jon Deatrick (Fieras)

10. Dan Strouhal (Twn2dn)

2. Erick Butzlaff (finitesquarewell)

15. Jason Kenney (bloodycelt)

So Martell Summer was consistent enough to have a huge showing in the top 16, but not strong enough to deal with Maesters, Lannister, Winter, or Gregs junk.

Also, in terms of seeding, the top 16 bracket had 15 matches played, and in 9 of them, the poorer seeded player won. (Brett winning as the 16th seed helped with that)

Recopying it once medieval scribe-like might have something to do with it.

If I have some time I'll see if I can remember the Restricted Cards. I do know there were 22 'Blades (3 out of City of Shadows decks), and 12 Pyromancer's Cache 6 Lanni, 5 other house/Maester, and 1 "hard cast" in Targaryen. And 3 decks didn't run a restricted card.

Thanks again for these Luke. You will be acknowledged in the upcoming newsletter ;)

I actually posted a list of everything Luke wrote on some other thread after Erick sent me a picture of the information (written by Luke?) from GenCon. I can forward the picture or find the thread post for you, if you want to something that doesn't come all from memory. For example, the sheet/picture/thread post has the top 16's restricted cards as well.

Nice work Luke, same to you Erick and Fatmouse; hooray for technology.

As far as the breakdown of houses, I'll admit that I expected a lot of Martell, but not quite this much. I also expected more Targaryen. Was the Targ box a bit underwhelming? Sure, but I thought Dragons would be more viable in Joust than Melee, due to the gang-up factor, after taking a Summer/Dragon deck 3-2 in Regionals. I was happy with Stark Siege, but maybe Dragons would have done better meta-wise, what with all the Summer out there.
