Cheers for the info reptilebro1. Do you know if these are going to be released as a 3 pack down the road?
Heavy Walker Info from Gencon
Yes they are, but at this time there is no ETA. I would probably say Q4 though. Hopefully sooner than later.
The labels at Gencon said Q4 2011 for a release date on the heroes.
$39.99 MSRP for the largest kit (thus far) for Dust? Consider me SOLD.
Both of them look really great, in particular I think a "Tachikoma" like paint job will be needed for an Allied walker of mine.
Chimaera: Yes there will be a ally pack it is Action Jackson, One-eye and The Priest. They are also supposed to be available Q4 but I over heard that it will be awhile before ether Grenadier X and The Priest are available. Take that as a rumor though...
Thanks for the info 101.

Sweet! Just in time for Christmas! These beauties are going to be a joy to paint!
Though, I do wish that they had released some Armor 5's by now, I can see why they went ahead and did the Heavy Walkers first, as the Armor 5 Walkers look a lot like the Armor 4's, except that they have more frontal armor/different weapons. I am guessing that FFG was is just trying to keep things interesting.
Thats like 40.00 US. dollars. I sure hope those are premium version prices.

I hope you mean the Hero packs; because $40 USD is quite cheap, PLUS, if $40 is still too much, there are discount retailers!
Though, if the Hero packs are $40.00, unpainted, I will be pretty frustrated. But, I doubt they will be that much.
I would have liked to see more of the middle weight mechs too. I really thought the all laser Loew was going to come out soon, or even the Jagdluther finally. I do like the heavies and I will be getting lots of them, at least enough to make 3-5 unit tank platoons.
Yes, the guns are way too big. I thought someone originally thought the Konigsluther had 124cm guns or something??? I certainly did not think they were as big as stated. Perhaps it is a typo. However, unless they have a special ability, a Steel Rain can still kill them on a decent shot. It will be interesting to see the health on these monsters.

Rumor has it, 10 wounds on the heavies.
WOW, that is awesome. Thanks!
The latest article on Reactive Fire has given us a few tidbits about the Sturmkonig:
- Advanced Reactive Fire
- 12.8cm FlakVierling does 10/1 against infantry 2, and 7/1 against vehicle 4.
- MG 44 zwei does 5/1 against infantry 2.
- Against Infantry 3, the 12.8 and MG together do 11/1. My guess is it's 8/1 from the Flak and 3/1 from the MG.

Well, the non-tankdestroyer Variant, Sturm-König, has got a quad 12.8cm gun... a single 12.8 gun was historically build into the Jagdtiger and it was capable of destroying every allied vehicle. This weapon was actually already over the top, since the 8.8 in the long variant of the KönigsTiger was already capable of fighting every enemy tank. If the name 12.8 FlaKVierling is not just used for the name it should be devestating. And the 17.3 cm FpK has got a higher caliber then the secondary armament of German battleships used in the war...
Perhaps more impressive is that the 173mm cannon is larger than the main armament of a light cruiser. I believe that the 12.8cm was the proposed armament of the super-heavy Maus/E-100 tanks, I think the 17.3 was an artillery piece. Certainly they didn't make a high velocity cannon in that caliber.

A 'historically accurate' transport might be one of the easiest conversions ever, just pop the turret off of an Allied Medium and adjust the weapon stats accordingly. The Canadians were the first to do this with tanks during WW2 to act as armored troop transports, a role that was sorely lacking.
The fact that they called them Kangaroos (regardless of the base tank) is a little amusing considering the Jump ability of the Allied mediums.

An MCW M-2 Kangaroo could be a reasonable APC option, give it Fast/Jump ala the Mickey and trim the armament down to the .30 MG. Not sure how to handle the open top.
Here's my take on the stat card for the Sturmkönig, based on the info released so far. Known info is in black, educated guesses in gray.
The only thing I'm unsure of is the Health. The text says the Konigsluther is tougher than the Sturmkonig, So I'm thinking one will be Armor 7 and 10 Health, while the other is Armor 6 with about 8 Health.
Somehow a quad 128mm does not seem right having the same damage as a twin 88mm, I did say that the stats won't live up to the hype or will be over powered, I guess the former prediction was correct - which is good.
Yeah, it isn't really as powerful as it seemed, but I guess that's a good thing. I was worried about them being too powerful, so I'd rather they err on the side of moderation. As it is, it's a very resilient tank, that while being the anti-infantry model is still as powerful against tanks as the previous anti-tank walker.
From the look of the legs, I keep almost expecting the sucker to stand up. Hmmm, will we get a trample attack?

Well, the Axis walkers don't look like they can switch shells types easily, so maybe its firing AA shells only?
Still, yeah, if it were in AT mode it'd be obliterating near everything.
It also might be using the quad 128 in a more regular firing mode so that it doesn't have to have a "RELOAD" skill on it. So it fires 1-2 rounds at a time and while they are reloading, can use other barrels for shooting.

But the general theory is that the twin 88's fire one at a time to due to its poor comparison with one 17 pounder on the pounder.
Then German example of thinking a bigger gun will help solve the problem?
Also the 128's are anti-aircraft weapns which usually means a high rate of fire.
Finally an image that gives us a better sense of the scale of the heavy walker:
It's big, but not gargantuan.
