Domain Drain Episode 1 - Introductions

By Fotonurth, in CoC General Discussion

Well guys, we got it posted over at CardGameDB. A little later than expected but the initial humps of the process are over and here we are to present you Episode 1 of Domain Drain. This episode covers some basic Introductions. A little back ground on your hosts, Will, Darryl, and Myself. And some information on what we've got planned. Enjoy!

I enjoyed it alright, and I'm looking forward to more podcasts over the months. :)

Dear Domain Drain crew,

1. Thanks for putting this out.

2. Enjoyed the intros and like everyone else can't wait for more.

3. Thanks for the shoutout and I forgive you for not remembering my true name.

4. BTW, its Tom Capor. ;)

5. How the heck did I miss you guys on thursday!? I tried to meet everyone there at the warm up tournament but... aparently that didn't go as planned.

6. Yes, I'm still willing to help any way I can with w/e. Competitive stuff, card reviews, etc...

So many good times ahead. I can hardly wait.

None of us actually made it to the warm up tourny. :(

This explains a lot.

For failure to meet thy promises you each owe me... one match! (fine print: match = a game played between 2 or more players. not the object used to start fires.)

To be redeemed at some random, yet easily forgotten, point in the future.

Hope your guys' gencon was fun though despite its apparent lack of Cthulhu :P

Ah, well, you sort of met me. If you count the fact that I was next to your game in the final round, and you looked over at our game once or twice and said something (I was the guy playing Agency Run-n-Gun against her Syndicate). Yeah, that counts, right? Lol. No worries. I had meant to chat for awhile after the tournament ended, but wound up talking to the new girl I was playing against and her boyfriend for awhile and then wandered off to the exhibitors hall. Lol, sooo..... it's actually my bad. For reference in case you saw him walking around, Darryl was the black guy playing Yog that day.

Whoah, whoah, whoah! Darryl and I both played! You're the only one that didn't make it. Slacker. :P

I want a break down of the new Story cards, and implications on social and competitive play.

Oh shiz! My bad! Looks Like I'm the only one that owes matches. Crap. If everything works out I'll be at Arkham Nights. You can beat me then~

Ya, final game... my surroundings were totally blocked. Which is basically the only thing my minor ADD is good for. The ability to focus too intensely on something to the point where I don't fully know what going on around me...

Its all good then. You two are excused from the match... however.. Fotonurth... for shame sir, for shame. jk.

Theres always next year... or perhaps (if kriss' thing gets off the ground... online! muwhahaha)

Keep up the good work guys.

Penfold, I'm eagerly looking forward to a discussion of the new chapter pack.

There is a lot of awesome in that pack. Makes me wonder if Damon front-loaded it. ;)

Specifically though I'd like an in-depth breakdown of the story cards that will be defining the tournaments for the next year. It may take a bit to get enough games in to really see how they can effect the outcome of games. I'm really loving the strategic value of Seventh Gate for instance.

From what I saw my friend... nope. :) :) :)

At least the front half of this cycle is just amazing. Quite possibly some of, if not the best, overall packs to date. Competitive cards, Casual cards, "Mindbending" (told you i was gonna steal that term Damon) cards, tons and tons of flavor. And if theres complete jank... I haven't seen it yet.

Gonna eat some dinner then I plan on posting a spoiler of the another set. So stay tuned! (ok, come back in like... a few hours lol)

Thank you sir, thank you. You do us all a huge favor.

And while we may occasionally butt heads I do respect your opinion regarding this here game.

If you say you don't see any jank I think that is extremely high praise. I'm excited. The packs can't possibly come fast enough.

Hey, we're cool. Us butting heads is good! Spurs conversation and I like a good debate now and then :)

Unfortuneately... I was gonna post the next one, but... I couldn't figure out what the set is called! lol. gonna email damon tomorrow and see if I can get it worked out so I can put it up for everyone... So many fun cards. But just to keep you guys teased...

I'll let you know what set is in later :P

Hey guys, great first episode for the 'cast. As someone new to CoC I was really pleased that the conversation was beginner friendly. A for further episodes I'd love to hear your impressions of each of the different cycles of Asylum packs and how they 'feel' compared to each other.

**** you AMericans and your conventions & tournaments, over here in the U.K. we've got nothing. Not a sausage, nor a tentacle.

p.s.

First post! Yay me! Wait, what's that coming out of th-

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm still kinda new to the game myself and don't get to play often, so a lot of the discussion will be double layered. Will with his more experienced view and my still new optimistic view. Eventually I'll play in a tourny and have that optimism shattered, but until then we'll continue to try to spurn discussions for all levels of play. I'll mention to Kennon the suggestions in this thread (Though I'm sure He's Seen them). As long as a couple other beginner friendly ideas.

I also enjoyed the podcast, and I haven't even bought any CoC card sets yet. However, my love of Arkham Horror and all things Lovecraft will probably spur me to getting into it eventually.

Will you all be at Arkham Nights? That should spur some good podcasting talk, and hopefully give a little boost to the Cthulhu LCG community.

We are discussing it. With Will's Job and My College, it comes down to budget and scheduling. We also wanna make Days of Ice and Fire a priority as well, as usually our whole thrones meta makes that hike. We are definitely discussing it though. I, personally, would love to attend and meet some of you guys personally, and play some games with y'all (as we use down south).

are you a game designer tom? if not how do you know of cards coming out?

He played in the CoC World Tournament at Gencon this year where we got to see uncut card sheets of the next few Asylum Packs that will be released in the following months. Tom got to keep the sheets.

its nice to see some people from the community trying to get some discussion stirrig. i have purchased a couple core sets and the secrets of arkham set so i am very new to the game and i am still trying to figure stuff out. it would be nice to hear in the next podcast about staple cards for every faction. when is the next podcast?

Kennon and I need to get together and record hopefully within the next week. He have some discussion topics decided on and all of that. Now it's just a scheduling thing. He's already busy enough with 2 Champs and a Chump. So it's a juggling act.

I'm pretty sure I could come down early enough this Saturday to do some recording...
