What was the outcome, and how players came?

Not sure who won but there were 4 players.

four players total. twn2dn won after making the discovery that burn essentially breaks the hand of the king format. (he simply added the king version of viserys to his worlds joust deck to use as his hand.)

More than a few saw that issue, and the question of "automatic participation." I think it could be a fun "side" event if they found a way to address that, and deal with blowouts where one player has an insurmountable power total but can't put their hand over the top.

You know, it really makes one wonder what happened to the other 20 or so people that pre-registered for the event.

Beric doesn't die to burn in Hand of the King, just so you know.

I wondered the same exact thing. I expected a lot of attrition, given the event started at 10am on Sunday, but I still anticipated at least 10 or so players. (Note: I didn't even pre-register, and either did Jason, so at most only 2 of the original registrants attended.)

Anyway, as Finite mentioned, burn is a bit ridiculous in the Hand of the King format, since all you have to do is burn their Hand to discard all the extra gold and send it out of play. That makes it both easy to come back from a slow start AND difficult for your opponent to ever get more gold on their Hand to win the game. Seems like a bit of an oversight to me, but then there are all kinds of silly combos in that format anyway. The deck that took second must have cycled his plot deck 3 times in the game we played. It was actually pretty annoying having to kill Bran repeatedly, and I found myself thinking it'd be nice if I just had a Milk of the Poppy or something.

The formate can also makes for a long game. Twn2dn and I played for what seemed forever. I think he killed Bran like eight times and my dead pile was bigger then my deck by x3 by the end of the game.

Gratz Twn2dn even if it was not a big group and thanks for the pass on the prize. ;)

babeo.gif I believe the smile probably represents what most of the pre-registerd looked like when their alarms went off in time to make it to the Hand of the King.

I'd pre-registered for both Hand of the Kind and the W:I Classic format events. Since I'd played AGoT all weekend, I decided to play in the W:I tourney on Sunday, just to get at least one W:I tourney in. I recognized a few other faces from the AGoT Melee and Joust tourneys also attending the W:I Classic tourney, though I don't know if they'd pre-registered for Hand of the King.

And yes, after Saturday night, we pretty much all looked like that smiley face, so I'm sure that accounted for many no-shows.
