We played a RTL level where heroes should being moved to the nearest pit (2 wounds and venom) at the beginning of the OL turn. If zyla, with flying ability, falls in one of these pits (or the ol plays a pit trap card), should she receive wounds? I do this question because the rule says "
Figures with the Fly ability may move
through
enemy figures and obstacles as if they weren’t there
" and "
A flying figure may
end
its turn
in a space containing an obstacle that inflicts damage without effect.
". If Zyla suffers a pit trap card she is not moving through an obstacle, and in the first case she is not in her turn (she is being moved in the ol turn). But my logic is telling me another thing...
Zyla and flying
I don't know about the RtL level, but normally if the overlord plays a Spiked Pit or similar trap on someone with Acrobat or Fly, the ability won't protect you from the initial effects of the trap (it's a card, not an obstacle), but you'll be able to move out of the pit afterwards without paying the usual movement penalty.
Thematically: Fly doesn't mean you're hovering constantly, it just means you can fly for short periods when you need to. If the floor suddenly disappears beneath you, you can't catch yourself fast enough to avoid damage, but you can fly out afterwards.

Correct, so flying gives her no protection and she suffers wounds just like anyone else.

She is moving. Nothing says it has to be her turn or under her own control, just that she is moving. At the start of the OLs turn the level effect drags (moves) her onto a pit. She moves onto a pit and ignores the effect due to flying.
Thank you both.
