Wait wait wait... Didn't you play Martell Brotherhood this year? You might as well have brought a crossbow to the bathroom with you, traitor.

~

It isn't any secret that I play only Martell or Lanni at tourneys. I never assumed the mantle of Lanni master, I just have more of a resume than a certain Mr. Kennon who played Bara I think in the other large tourney I saw him in (Days of Ice and Fire). lengua.gif

However, Rave, if you were still playing, THEN we would have a winner. I don't think I EVER saw you play anything but Lanni.

Thanks! Honestly with the STM back, I think I'm all in with Thrones now. So if you decide to stay, maybe I'll see you next Worlds.

And yes, rave is still playing Lanny. Clansmen, even.

With all these spoilers for the Lannister box, I'm getting excited about the Targ box that was allegedly supposed to come out a few months ago. I remember seeing this "Queen of Dragons" thingy that had some crap in it, but wasn't that just like a Targ-only chapter pack with 90% unplayable filler?

Seriously now, when's the *real* Targ box hit the shelves?

(Sorry...just felt like trolling a bit today. Must mean it's time for lunch.)

Am I the only one who liked the Targ Box?

I liked the Targ box too, but i think it´s right that there weren´t so many influences on Targ decks. The army theme just failed, well the dragon theme worked quite well, but it´s probably not tier 1.

Just based on the spoiled cards alone it appears like Lions of the Rock is much better than Queen of Dragons.

Queen of Dragons was really mediocre. Almost all of the staple cards from QoD are neutral, stuff like Paper Shield, Dissensions, River Row, and some of the plots. Killer of the Wounded and Warlock of Qarth are the only two Targ cards I care much for in QoD.

Funny, I didn't run either Warlock or Killer.

I liked Horseback Archers, Sunstroke, Field of Fire, Shade of the evening, unburnt, pyat pree, myrish villa, kingsroad fiefdom.

The set was a huge boost to targ burn and targ summer. Since I play Targ Summer Burn, perhaps that is why I liked it so much.

I liked it quite a bit myself. I play AMbush Dragons, Dothraki, and Targ Army. The ability to kneel influence to pay any part of a gold cost for a Targ army? That card is money, and was obviously built alongside the Targ box. It was just the thing I needed to make my Army deck work well and now I'm looking at making an aggro-burn deck featuring armies and influence burn effects.

Targ was completely off the radar as far as I was concerned before the Targ box and after it right back on. I still think there are some things I haven't really put together yet.

For the record I find no problem with the unique 2 gold cost 1 gold, 1 inf kingdom locations that raised claim when a "struggle" plot was revealed.

Granted they could also expand on the three in ACoA.

Each would be a reducer for either trait or crest... and draw cards if there is an epic battle card...

The Reach - Maesters/Learned

Asshai by the Shadow -Asshai/Shadow

The Vale - Knight/Holy

King's Landng - Bastard/Noble

The Riverlands - Mercenary/War

I did wear a t-shirt at least! It was on under my 2C1C shirt and was the main reason I didn't button it up.

I stand corrected. ~You move up to #18th in line now.

I am (for serious) curious, when IS the last time you played Lanni competatively (~@ a championship level)? Did you last year? Not to say I did (Martell again), although I did play it the 1st LCG year and at Regionals/Kubla.

I thin I confronted him about this as well. I think we have a new player type Tyrion, I say I'm loyal to one house but instead I kill them and run to another.

Oh, snap!

I know Kennon and I DID talk about being more excited to play Lanni (he did give me a few ideas that I need to work on). They did only have kneel, and a couple of months of trait manip until it was decided that Ravens were too good (boo!!!!! Considering it won all of one Regional, and in the hands of Mathlete). Now maybe with a Clanman subtheme I am excited to mix a little kneel, a little trait manip and some other stuff together again after the box is reaized.

I liked the Targ box pretty well, it just didn't make much of a splash. Too many cost 4 characters w/o enough protection (I would seriously KILL someone for Put to the ? again). Looks like there is a lot more of that coming up as well (of the bomb charcters, they all were 4 cost...oh, AND a 3-cost Ally - thanks!), so I am reserving judgement on Lanni even.

Shagga, Stannis, Tyrion.... how am I ever going to keep track of which player type I am?

Don't forget my unveiling of the exciting new "Hodor" player type at the 2011 Joust worlds.

I really liked a few cards out of the Targ box (pretty much everything mentioned above, I really like the Warlocks), but as a whole I was quite disappointed. Shade of the Evening looked great until SoO handed out attachment control (a Targ mechanic) to any House that wants to play OP Maesters. We got a useless Grey Wind, Pyat Pree is an Ally, and we still don't have a good Strong Belwas (hoping Champions will fix that one at least).
