I understand that for some actions going beyond the 100% doesn't really matter and a weapon would still jam or break on a roll of 96-00 if thats the case but when figuring for DoF say a person with 75 BS is at point blank range +30 shooting a huge target +10 on full auto +20= +60 total (as per errata) does he qualify as shooting under a modified BS of 135 for DoF? or can he only shoot under a maximum of 100? and if that's the case does jamming still apply? though i feel it should.
Combat modifiers beyond 100%?
Yea, those degrees of success still count towards the number of hits, but he would still "jam".
Aye, rolling a jam would still mean no hits and the gun jams, but it means that rolling under that means more DoS.
ahh i can see it now. a metalican hiver with two vanaheim shotguns on full auto. rolling under a maximum of ~148 BS to give a maximum of 24 shotgun hits. 24d10+96 total damage what stands a chance? low to mid 200's for damage...i think at a certain point even mist becomes an exaggeration for what's left.
They just have to be able to afford/obtain enough ammo to feed the machine. A minor speed bump but can be very successful if the team finds themselves on a black powder tech planet or lower. Heretics and xenos threaten all planets after all. :/
you have a point but consider this a bolt shell is 16 each so when you rev up that heavy bolter and wipe that xeno off the face of the earth you better check its body for 160 thrones worth of stuff. while using 2 vanaheims on full auto giving 12 shots only costs 3/5 of a throne. so for the cost of a signle heavy bolter burst i can shoot two vanaheim's on full auto 266 times. its just cost effective. but yes stuck on a black powder planet better have brought half your weight in ammo.

Ha, I carry 4 canisters of 200 SP bullets each for my Heavy Stubber on my tech priest ![]()
That's besides the 200 already in it. I carry a thousand munition, and I like to spread lead!
well your tech priest is actually carrying 50 thrones worth of bullets on him including what he's got loaded. and i'm meaning bolt shells. where its 16 EACH rather than 1/20 Each i mean for the price of one bolt shell you can buy 320 heavy stubber rounds. but there is always the situation that comes up where bigger is just better and you need more punch in your gun. really though if you work out average damage. On Average a stubber does 9.5 damage while a heavy bolter does 11. though the bolter can hit 20 while the stubber only hits 14 and the heavy bolter has twice the chance for righteous fury. so if you want to pay 1,250 thrones more for the bolter and pay 320 times more every shot it could be worth it to you. i'm currently in process of building a excel document giving average damage of every weapon in core and IH plus adding special qualities and quantifying how much everything is worth. figuring out the individual value factor for every component. cost, weight, ammunition, damage, qualities, RoF, Pen, availability, reload, clip, range, class. adding them all together to figure out what weapons are best under what situation and for what cost.
oh yeah just to mention too. that would be 3192 shotgun shells. which gives my Two vanaheims 266 shots each...on full auto.
****, I wouldn't want to be on the shoes of the guy that gets shot by those shotties at point blank (< 3 m) and get multiple shots...
Buuuuuuuuuuuuut, it gives me ideas. We're almost done with our current campaign, and next guy is a radical arbitrator that's gonna specialize in shotguns and then go for the mortiurge advance. Come oooooooooon scatter!
