? on mini's

By PBnJ, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

It's writen as new heros and monsters.......so makes me wonder if it's just new heros and the same monsters from E1 just less of them. BUt if it is 10 new monsters it make me wonder what the new monsters are going to be. wonder if they still going to use the 3 type of humenoid, beast, magical (i think)

My guess so far would be.

Zombie

Human fighter of some kind

knight maybe

gargoyle

maybe an elemental or 2

witch

thats all i got so far..

anyone else wonder what they may be?

The cover shows a dragon and a group of greenskins (maybe goblins?). On the upper left side, there is some kind of greenskin-shaman.

I could imagine that we could see some creatures from the other Terrinoth-Games. What new creatures are there in Rune Age?

EDIT: The announcement says there will be nine new monster classes, not ten.

I'm not sure what new creatures are mentioned in Rune Age, but pulling from Runewars there are: fleshtearers, necromancers, pegasi, dark knights, and siege engines (off the top of my head) that haven't been represented in Descent. Siege engines are probably a bit of a stretch as new "monsters," but I'm just brainstorming here Plus whatever incredi-new units might be in the Runewars expansion (I don't remember the ones they've mentioned but there were a few new things being bandied about.)

There are also a metric ton of monsters that were mentioned on cards in Runebound that have yet to be converted. Vingolen are something I would love to see brought to Descent. Also living runes.

And, of course, there are a number of standard fantasy monsters that could show up. Personally I'm hoping for a larger quantity of new ideas. The use of "new spins" like beastmen instead of goblins and ferrox instead of vampires has always been something that attracted me to the Terrinoth setting.

In the process of me writing this someone posted my thoughts exactly, though did not elaborate much on them (mechanically):

If they take them from runewars:

Demons

Berzerker - could be fun, would have berzerk high damage, and no armour, can harm self to boost attack

Warlock - an enemy caster with a large blast and fire

Flesh Ripper - leap attack, self heal/buff, fast and high damage

Chaos Lord - High fear rating, bigger then demon (3*3?), melee possibly

Undead

Reanimate - Would be like kobold but with more health and damage, similar gang up mechanic

Skeleton archer - Already in descent

Necromancer - Nearby allies that die are replaced with reanimates (if melee), skeletons (if ranged), or sorcerors (if magic)

Dark Knight - Heavy mounted unit with a ride by attack ability and high fear.

Not including Humans or latari because their not very dungeon-esque

Expansion Demons

Blood Witch - sacrifice allies to fuel their magic

Gluttony demon - Huge (3*3) Melee tank, poison attack

Expansion Undead

Great Wyrm - Huge (3*3) undead dragon, would be cool if it had melee(claw, bite), ranged(breath), and magic attacks(spells)

Vampire - Life drain, more elite ferrox

And

Roc - Powerful flying unit (melee)

vingolem - Heavy tank creature (very slow)

they have allot of things to draw from.

I think you guys missed the point that this new version is set in the world of Mennara and not Terrinoth.

Can't remember what they were called but they worked for the dragon lord himself. I've been waiting for that monster mini for some time now. hand on ...........dragonkin (chk it on boardgame geek) oh... and those 4 armed swamp toad people things..forgot their names aswell. starts with an M.....love to see something like that.

and ofcouse Zombies as they are in roundbound aswell. gotta have the zombies.

Mennara is the name of the world, Terrinoth is one of the lands in that world.

sorpresa.gif I always thought that Terrinoth was the name of the world. but he wording is there in the description. Go fig. gran_risa.gif

Given there is a huge white dragon on the cover, I think it might be safe to assume there will be at least one dragon mini in the box.
