Vitality loss and card effects

By The Token Token, in UFS Rules Q & A

Containing the Power

R Commit: After you lose vitality due to one of your opponents card effects, draw X cards. X equals the vitality you lost

Quick Study

R Commit, discard 1 momentum: After you take damage due to your opponents card or ability, draw 2 cards.

Since english/grammer is no longer my strong point at 3:30am, will either of these cards work as a result of me getting smacked by an attack, or does it have to be from a card, that is not an attack, that deals me damage?

Ex: I get attacked. I take damage. React. Profit. ???

i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Containing is due to an effect that deals direct vitality damage(ie. Blood of the Innocent), though i assume that Quick study will work as it says damage due to a CARD or ability and damage is part of an attack which is a Card type. I'll wait for Tag, Omar or Brian to come in and tell me whether i am an idiot or not.

N.J.

Nope, you're correct. Because Containing the Power uses the word "effect", it can only be played in response to an ability that causes direct vitality loss, such as Blood of the Innocent, Basara's support, Look into Dreams, etc.

But because Quick Study says "card or effect", it works when you lose vitality due to an attack (i.e., take damage).
