A couple of questions from a relatively new player

By Varrec, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Greetings all. I'm just seeking a little clarification on a couple of things, being pretty new to this. They may sound a little silly, but oh well.

1) For the purposes of cards that blank the text box, what precisely is the "text box?" Is it the physical space on the card separated by the line between the artwork and the card text (which also technically contains the icons and crests, but not strength which straddles the line) or is it just the text printed on the lower part of the card? i.e. If I play "Milk of the Poppy" do I remove the MIL/INT/POW icons as well?

2) Are keywords like Deadly, Stealth, etc., considered character abilities for the purposes of "Immune to character abilities?" Or does the immunity just cover triggered abilities?

These are just a couple of questions that had popped up in the gaming group over the past couple of weeks. :)

Answers to both questions can be found in the FAQ. Do check it out, I'm sure it'll help answer many more questions you may have in the future.

I'll quote the relevant passages here:

(3.9) Icons in the Text Box
Gold modifiers, influence, and initiative modifiers are not called out with an outline, and are therefore a part of a card's text box. Challenge icons and crests are differentiated from the text box of a card by a solid outline, and therefore are not considered a part of that card's textbox.

[Aside from gold/initiative modifiers and influence, the text box of course includes any actual text, i.e. traits, keywords and card abilities]

(3.7) Card Abilities

"Card abilities" (i.e. "Character ability," "Location ability," or "Attachment ability") refers to anything in a card's text box, except for traits, keywords, and flavor text. "Card abilities" also refers to any abilities (again, keywords and traits are excluded) gained by card effects
