Is the revised core set the same as the core set but with more stuff? If so why is it cheaper? What do I need to start?

The revised rules are a compilation of all the rules from each of the expansions and updated. It's cheaper because you get less models, only 1 walker a side, less dice ad you really nead at least double what they supply, and the terrain boards are just paper instead of the very thick card. The original set is a must to buy as you pretty much get the models for half price when purchased as the set and get the revised set as again it will be cheaper than buying individually and have different model than the first set.

So, where do you start? Buy the original set now and the revised set when it is released.

My proposition for buy in schedule

-Old Core Set (best deal ever )

-Command Squad. (expends game a lot)

-Medium Walker (gives you flexibility for walker configuration , for example you can have 2 X Shooty + Artillery or 2x CLOSe combat + Artillery)

After that its really what you prefer - if walkers go for second old box set , if Heavy Armour Super special units go for revised.
Same time if you play with Dust Tactics rules get expansion (more tiles for bigger battle and scenarios for bigger army)

Also - to get your friends in game -

Tau can easily do Japan Proxy

Space Marines proxy allied

I started w/ the base set, then immediately after opening it, I ordered another one and the command troops.

Everything else arrived yesterday!
