A little more speculation, regarding those Pilot cards:

  • The gold number at the top right seems to be the pilot/ship's initiative number (low initiative ships move first, attack last)
  • The icons on the left seem to be the stats for the ship itself - notice they're the same, no matter who's piloting it? I'm guessing they are, in order: Speed (not sure how this works with the movement templates), Attack (how many dice you roll to attack?), Maneuverability (how many dice you roll to defend?), and Shields
  • The icons on the right seem to be what this particular pilot adds to the stats on the left (because the icons are the same as the ones on the left, but with a plus-sign attached. When your Pilot is hurt, these bonuses are negated?)
  • Not sure what the little symbols in the mid-lower-right indicate. Maybe fun maneuvers your pilot/ship can do?
  • In the bottom right, the number is preceded by that symbol that we know is the Star Wars equivalent of '$'. So that must be the cost of the fighter+pilot. Presumably, when we eventually buy a B-wing, for instance, we should get Rookie, Red Squadron, and Whatever cards giving us the combined stats, as well.

Just my ideas. What do you think?

I'm smelling the potential for costume stats of every single pilot from SW movies and the EU...starting with Rogue squadron

I'm thinking you're right. Hopefully, while the 'mook' cards seem to be attached to a particular ship (they say X-wing or TIE fighter right on 'em, after all), the heroes' cards will only list what bonuses and maneuvers they add to a ship, so you can have them jump into anything. Otherwise, every time you buy a new ship model, you need to have a new Luke card... and Han card... and Lando card... and Chewie card...

Not sure how that'll work with the chits, though. But if you're talking customs, well then, anything can happen! gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'm pretty sure it will happen, atleast for those who don't get Hero cards like most of Rogue squadron,etc..

Well they are already using Named pilots as generic characters like Rookie Pilot, so it looks like we can count out on seeing any pilot characters other than the few famous ones...

In all fairness though, I couldn't really see them making a different card for every named pilot in Red squadron, Gold squadron, etc... (I think they all have names now?)

But they aren't going to be 60/40+ Pieces, more like 1 in a pack <.<. They might as well throw away the generic names and actually make every pilot seem to be a developed character. Plus the game easily look like they will be small based skirmishes so were not gonna have 20 x-wings vs 60 tiefighters.

I pulled out my Starship Battles because I'm DYING for this game to come out. When I looked at the GenCon pics again I noticed one huge improvement in X-wing: full-color cards. Now, I'm not one to care about that kind of thing too much, but these X-wing cards are a LOT easier on my eyes -- and I'm reading them on a computer screen!

Interesting necro read. Makes me wish I was around for release.

I guess people are celebrating the 3-year birthday early. I suppose it was released at GenCon, after all.

It was a real trip. The anticipation was palpable. The only thing I was more excited for was the Star Wars LCG.
