GenCon Report

By Dcal12, in Dust Tactics

Ok first no pictures yet, I will load them tonight. I just took a quick break to let you guys know whats going on.

Purchases:

Dust Tactics Revised Core

2x Unit card Upgrade Packs

Tank Busters

Axis Zombies

Also noticed whats coming out and they are going to have a Hero pack with 3 Hero's.

Heavy Walkers look great.

Three unit Armor 3 Command Squad

Dust Warfare....WOW

It is a 1 to 6" ratio so one movement factor equals six inches

The idea that one side moves all there units before the other, I know is a concern, but reaction keeps both players totally involved.

They have a Tank Damage Table that you refer to when you hit a Walker, that lets you know what damage a walker gets when you hit it. You still roll for armor.

damage is things like:

Suppressed

Blinded

Back up

Weapons Disabled

Crew Killed

Crew Injured

Fire

Ammon Explosion

It also states on the table, subject to change.

Through terrain a walker moves 1/2 movement unless it is moving move - move

Well I took a lot of pictures but dont have time to load them up. I will do that tonight. Gotta get back .

Sorry for typos..

Thanks very much! Looking forward to the pics.

- Hero packs with 3 heroes. Would that be Action Jackson, Johnny One-Eye and Bazooka Joe for the allies and Stefan, TotenMeister and Sigrid for the axis? Is it is something new?

- Armor 3 Command Squads. Cool, we already glimpsed them in the Revised Core Rulebook. Wonder how a 3-man squad will work with all the abilities, tough....

- HEAVY WALKERS!!! What is it, the Loewe?

HEAVY WALKERS! I can't wait to see these pictures!!!

Thanks for the report!

I gotta ask though...any *new* factions?

-Jeff

Nice report. Can you ask anyone when the revised set, zombies and so forth will be available to the non GenCon world? Like ot knwo when I should expect my pre-orders.

Sorry one more link for a pic showing 2 out of the 3 allied hero pack and allied heavy walker.

Thank you very much for the pics.

- Axis hero pack: TotenMeister, Stefan and Grenadier X (or whatever the zombie with the saw is called)

- Allies hero pack: Action Jackson, Johnny One-Eye and The Priest (guy in long coat)

- Axis heavy walkers look AWESOME. Konigsluther and Sturmkonig.

- Allies heavy walkers look.... agh... very weird, not cool at all. I've never minded that the axis walkers looked overall better than the allies, but this has gone to far. Really disappointed at those... things. Punisher and Firewall, dunno, too round, too flat, too mismatched.

Agreed with the alied walkers, they look good in their own right but don't seem to gell with Allied designs.

At first glance I honestly thought it was an alien walker.

Then this came to mind:

As an allies player, I have to say I'm a bit disheartened. I hope some other pics show these units in a better light....

I like the axis heavy quite a bit. But I agree that the Allied heavies are something new entirely...not keeping w/ the Allied design, WWII flavor is absent. I'm thinking spider...alien. Might be fine for others so I won't go all neg, but they don't fit into my tastes for this game.

The tank damage table is excellent. I'm thinking one of my gaming buds is a shill gui%C3%B1o.gif because just about a month and a half ago I expressed a need for just this thing. A tank w/ heavy damage should be compromised and this table fits the bill for that, and for overall game flavor. Big Kudos for the table. I'll wait by my mailbox for my big check.

Those ally walkers just don't inspire me to pay good money for them. The heavy walkers should send shivers down one's spine, and these certainly don't (unlike the axis).

And I worry about my 3D paper walls. How am I going to maneuver these monsters around them?

I'm intrigued with these heavy command squads. I see a guy with a flak cannon, a medic and an officer. What about the radioman and the mechanic? Could these guys be pulling double duty, and we have an officer-radioman and a weapon specialist-mechanic?

A very sad day for my wallet when these figs ship put T_T

THX for picture and Report

Allied 6 legged version is bastard child of Tachikomas and Pershing !!!! And Thats cool, very cool.

this is probably historical source for american design

t28 super heavy

unlike others, i'm all over the allied walker and the axis ones look fantastic. Good day to be a Dust player.

I guess that they are removed , its like infantry heavy command option. Far more useful in combat, less commanding option

I actually like the Allied Heavies a fair bit- not what I expected, but a T-28 with legs works for me! The Axis walkers, as usual, are amazing though.

It helps to know that the design has some precedence... but I'm still having a very hard time with these tanks.

Nice to see things being added to the game. Im more of a infantry kind of guy, as I like the idea of heroic squad action. Im worried the game may eventually just become robo-battle tech with the winner being who brings the most glitter boys.

The ral question remains. When do Axis Zombies, Tank Busters and the Revised Core Set and updated unit cards become available to the world at large? I hope it isnt like my past experiences with FFG and GenCon. But that was largely Rogue Trader and Deathwatch issues (the books came out like 3 months after the con).

I also wish the allied walkers were a bit cooler, as my buddy who plays Allies (mainly cause I bought the first set of Dust and claimed the Axis while pawning the Allies off on him) keeps telling me that the Axis look so much cooler and have better models.

But I hav a feeling those allied walkers will have superior stats and abilities.

Good observation. I think you nailed it.

Wonder, then, if there's a corresponding weakness.

Hey Dcal, whats the fluff like in the new Revised set?

Its kind of balanced - Axis Get More strange infantry option (some ppl can have problem with monkeys or zombies and some like me can have problem with Axis Heavy infantry) - Allied had more diffrences in Mecha design and more consistent H. infantry.

Amazon has the zombies coming out on 31 August.

Those heavy walkers look like they are actually larger than the board square. Do you think that's the case? And will there be any special rules to handle that?

looks awesome in general. If you think about it, the Allies never really had cool looking armor or even infantry outfits. The Axis seemed to take pride in the design/look lol. I'm just generalizing also.....
