Game in Redmond WA

By Wolfie4, in Dark Heresy

Anyone who posts here have a game with openings nearby, or willing to get together to start one?

is Seattle too far?

I'll be interviewing in Seattle and Tacoma in mid Feb and looking to move there in late April or early May. It's a few months away, but if you're in no big hurry...

Right across Lake Washington...you know where it is? Depends on where in Seattle, but there is a store in Redmond that works.

Do you run or play? If I were to run, something might get going good by Spring. Or keep stuff on the back burner, for sure.

I live in the area and might be interested if there aren't any conflicts.

I live in Issaquah and would be interested in playing in a game in either Redmond or Seattle. Please keep me updated if anything progresses on this.

What sort of conflicts?

I was thinking of meeting at Genesis in Redmond to start with, time open right now, would like to play but will GM.

Anyone who is serious (I am) pm me with vitals, like e mail address and/or telephone no. Also, if anyone is a member of the Eastside rpg meetup that would facilitate getting a DH game going.

I don't see how to PM on this software, so I added you as friend to see if that opens the function.

I was at Genesis yesterday and mentioned the idea of playing DH there. They are totally open to it and said the only problem days/times are Friday nights and Sunday afternoons because of magic and one Saturday a month because of RPGA.

He said either we can bring a group and play there or if we want to run an open game they will add it to the calendar.

I had thought this thread was dead, and went and bought Dragon Warriors last week....but I am still interested. Especially in playing. So Saturday is open at Genesis, the last time I asked there was no room on Saturday. They had a bunch of Magic tournaments or some such coming up at the time. I think an open game starting with a couple of people might be the best approach for this. I don't have the book (yet), so I don't know any of the 'secrets'...but I have run WFRP, CoC, and Stormbringer. I would pick it up fast. Since I haven't read any of the material (except secondary sources) would you want to try to run a pick up at Genesis? You have one person if so. And maybe two of us could form the beginning of a durable group via 40k. Just let me know. Oh, I would also run if I need to. I have lots of experience with dark, demon infested settings.

Crater, if you are still interested, check out the Eastside RPG Meetup (a google search will get you there). I think working that will bring some local gamers out of the woodwork. I posted on it tonite, with a statement that I am looking for gamers for Dark Heresy or Dragon Warriors. So come and join the party and maybe we can get a game going. My perfect setup right now would be playing DH and running Dragon Warriors (I simply do better with fantasy) but I would give running DH a shot, definitely. You haven't stated a preference.

I can't find a PM function here either. Anyone else know for sure?

I've got the books and can GM. I will take a look at the meetup group.

I don't have any books (yet), but you have your first player if you want. Right now I'm halfway through the Ravenor trilogy and about sold on it. Aside from the rulebook, what would you recommend getting otherwise, for DH?

Maybe I'll run Dragon Warriors if you run DH. It's an atmospheric British fantasy rpg, born about the same time as Warhammer. Do you have any interest in that?

A friend and I run a game over in Seattle right now... has been going for a good long time. Not sure if there is room in this game though sad.gif

I use to work over in Redmond but that was a few years ago now and have not been over to any of the game stores there these days. Any good?

As for what you need, the basic rulebook is about the only thing that is required. The Inquistor Handbook has some new options, weapons, etc but it is not required.

Genesis in Bella Bottega is the best gamestore on Eastside right now, I'd say. There is a new store in Woodinville called Earnies, two Uncles(Redmond Town Center and Crossroads) and a couple of smaller stores. Pretty good right now for game stores.

Genesis has all the WH40K books in stock, and a section of 75% off books, many of which are in pristine condition. I picked up a pristine OGL Ancients for ten bucks last weekend. Most of what is left are 3e splat books, but you might be able to find a gem, depends on what you like.

Thanks, I was hoping only the main rulebook was needed (I had looked at Inquisitors Handbook, wasn't sure).

Hmm, I love second hand books, but there are not a lot of places that have much of a selection over here in Seattle... Gary's Games over in Greenwood carries some as do Half-Price-Books... hmm might just be worth a trip over to the Eastside to check that out!

Good luck with starting up a game. I wish I had the time to get involved with another one BUT my wife complains about the time I spend gaming right now sorpresa.gif

The Games Matrix in Tacoma is also an option. They're open until all hours of the night, and have enough boards to have a spare in a tournament. I live in Enumclaw though, so most cities are a bit of a drive for me.

It's looking more and more likely that Tacoma is where I'm going to go (the offer from Madigan is pretty tempting...) and I'm really up for running a game once my schedule is set (most likely nights, so gaming on off days or in early afternoons will be best). I've got multiple copies of the DH rulebook (BI and FF versions, most that had binding problems and were sold to me for really cheap) along with all other published materials.

I live in West Seattle. Tacoma is quite a trip, but on a Saturday it may be worth it to fight for the Corpse Go...errr I mean the Emperor :P

Where at in West Seattle? I use to live there but now I live downtown in the International District/Chinatown... only about 10 blocks from work which is cool.

If things ever settle down I would totally be up for another game maybe on Friday nights (cause I am a nerd and we don't really go out on the weekends... last Friday I went to bed at 9pm in fact)

Fridays would be good for me. I live on California. I've lived in W. Seattle now for almost 7 years now. Previously off Delridge... by the exit to the bridge.

bump............ where are the Washington players?
