Just a quick question...

By The Shink, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Heya! I recently came across Arkham Horror and was instantly intrigued, after reading more about it I have decided to take the plunge.

I have ordered the base game online but not directly from FFG. I notice on their site that the game was recently re-printed. Just wanted to know if it is any different (new/updated?)? Or is the game I got going be exactly the same as it?

The base game has been reprinted a number of times over the years as stock levels get low. A new edition was released back in 2006, that did contain a number changes and fixes but since then there hasn't been any changes (as far as I'm aware).

It would be most unlikely that the version you ordered was pre-2006 so no need to worry. If you want to know when your version was printed, have a look at the bar code on the back of the box. to the right of the bar codes you should notice a date, usually in the format xxxMMMYY.

For example, on my games I have
Arkham Horror - 809JUL10 (i.e. July 2010)
Miskatonic Horror - 974APR11 (i.e. April 2011) New release
Dunwich Horror - 1006MAR11 (i.e. March 2011) New printing as it had been out of stock for a while.

Actually, if for some fluke, you have the older version, do not fret.

The way you can tell is that the board will be dark brown instead of map-beige. If this is the case, then all you need to know is that two investigators start with slightly different random equipment and a couple item cards were changed. In fact, if you get the Dunwich Horror expansion, it should come with all the fixed cards.

Ahhh ok, thats what I wanted to know. Thanks for the replies. Now Im off to save Arkham. ;)
