Print on Demand for Talisman?

By OrbitalFracture, in Talisman

I was just browsing the FFG website when I came across the Print on Demand section, which I'm sure most of you know much more about than I do. What I was curious about was whether that program would create an opportunity for new Talisman content, or even better, an official way to get the online-only ending cards. I know there are homemade ways to take advantage of Danse Macabre and the Crown of Command, but I like having things that match and would have no problem paying, say, $5 per alt ending card. So any guesses on whether this is a likely, or even viable, solution?

I'd also love to see reprints of the promo cards that came with the first run of Reaper, but I assume the "linen finish" the Print on Demand page mentions would be a limiting factor?

Either way, it seems like a win-win for everybody: players could get official versions of online supplements, and perfectionists like me would gladly hand over money for it!

The print on demand stuff has a different finish to the factory printed stuff. So you'll always be able to tell the difference. With the Mansions of Madness print on demand scenario, they reprinted all appropriate cards from the main set so they're wouldn't be any difference. You can't really do that with Talisman :(

A friend of mine is a graphic designer, so I had him print off the the two extra endings. They're similar enough to the factory printed ones, although he laminated them so they don't blend in at all! That's not too bad though since we lay out the endings on the table and roll two dice to find which we get anyway. Still it's a little annoying, and since he took his own time to do them I can't really ask him to do them again.

You could try to find a shop that prints wedding stationary and that sort of thing. They might be able to print them for you, although they might not do a run so small and I've no idea how much it would cost.

Stopping now, since I've wandered off-topic a little!

Aww, that's too bad. I guess I'm still hoping that there will be another expansion someday that, er, expands the expansions. I'd love to see more dungeon and highland cards and interaction between the other boards (I actually had a Secret Passage show up in the highlands last game!), and it would be the perfect way to add Danse Macabre. The normal CoC could go with any expansion, really.

Thanks for the info :) I don't actually know much about any of the other FFG games; I just bought Talisman since I've been a big fan in the past. But wandering forums like this can be addictive... and Arkham Horror is currently in the mail now! Can't wait to check out other games, including Mansions of Madness.
