Motley attachment

By kelemvor3, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hello again...

A question about the motley card that came during a late night game...might be a little bit lame but....

Say I have Ser Jaime Lannister , he has the Lordship attachment and the Gutter Rat's cunning. Another player plays on him the Motley attachment. Motley says that he must pay 1 gold to the owner of motley whenever he wants to play Ser Jaime Lannister as attacker or defender... Well that's crystal clear. But... motley card also says : or trigger attached character ability. I mean that, if the attacker plays Ser Jaime Lannister, he must pay 1 gold for playing the card, plus one if he uses the stealth ability from Gutter Rat's cunning, plus 1 gold for using the power style attack from Lordship etc???? And in the dominance phase, if he uses the +4 STR from the Lordship attachment, he must again pay 1 gold???

(All cards are in the Core Set)

No. You are confusing passive and constant effects with triggered abilities.

The Stealth, icons, and STR he gains from the attachments are just constant effects from those attachments. You couldn't turn them off (short of discarding the attachments), even if you wanted to. As such, you can't trigger (turn them on), either.

Now, If Motley were on Ser Ilyn Payne, he'd have to pay in order to use his Marshalling effect.

Iam not confused!!!

The other 2 players were confused :P

Anyway , your advice is much much welcome!! Thanks for the time :)
