What might be a stupid question...

By VerdatPagan, in Battlestar Galactica

Hey All-

This game has definitely got my attention, and as of now, I'm waiting on it to arrive via mail for our first night at taking a go. I've been browsing the forums here to try and find some clarification on a few rules, but I did have one that I couldn't find an answer too. Please keep in mind that I don't have an actual copy of the game, and the question stems from reading the .pdf file of the rules from the FF website.

On page 10, the rulebook is talking about the crisis step, and the types of cards which can be drawn. The first listed is a Cylon attack crisis (Cylon Swarm), and the rules simply state to follow what is printed on the card. First, would I be correct in assuming that when the card is drawn, the board layout follows what is on the card? IE, do we setup the 2 Vipers, 3 civvies, heavy raiders, and basestar in the corresponding spots on the gameboard? Second, it lists activate the Basestar BEFORE setting up those ships...I'm assuming that if a Basestar is already on the board it gets to take a shot at Galactica, but does the new one get to as well since the Activation is listed as step one and the setup is listed as step two?

The second question is simply what to do if another Attack card is drawn on the very next turn. I understand there are some component limitations designed for game balance, but assuming it happens and some of the previous ships are still on the board, are the next card's setup just done as close as possible? IE, do we cram more ships on the board in their corresponding areas to the best of our ability given component restraints?

Thanks for any hep y'all can give me!

Hello,

1A. Yes, you set up the stuff shown on the mini picture that is on those cards (it's laid out exactly like the gameboard so you can see what goes where).

1B. No, you go through the card one step at a time. So, first, all of the ones on the board would attack, then you do the set up, and thus the new ones won't activate yet.

2. If another attack card is drawn you set up what you can, iirc the rules say the current player chooses, if say there are two new basestars to put out but you only have one left in the box. But yes, you just set up all that you can on top of what was already out.

Hope that helps! Have fun, the game is a blast!
