Dodge vs Full Auto

By demarc, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Does a successful dodge test with degrees of success vs full auto subtract from the attacker's number of hits or his successes?

On p.239 of the Core Rulebook they give an example where an inquisitor dodges three shots with a dodge test of two degrees of success. Is that because each success on the dodge negated a single shot or the attacker's successes? What would be the net result of the following example:

  • Attacker fires full auto with a bolter (max 4) and nets 6 degrees of success.
  • Defender succeeds on his dodge test with 3 degrees of success.

Does the attacker dodge all 4 shots or does it mean the defender still gets hit by 4 shots (6 - 3 = 3 degrees)?

When dodging, succeding on the roll negates one hit, plus each degree of success negates one hit. (Two if the weapon has the storm quality.) So, 3 DoS on dodge means you just dodged four bolts. Extra successes by the attacker don't matter.
