When i lose a military challenge i have to chose one character and kill him.

i can chose a character and then save him?

or i can chose viserys (core set) and get away of military challenges with claim of 1?

Yes, for any killing effect that doesn't specifically say "cannot be killed" (including claim), you may use a "save" effect to stop it from killing the character - and not have to choose a new character to die.

this is very good. with the correct cards you can stay unharmed against military chalenges.
