I am so excited about this game!
I understand that Dark Eldar are going to be included as adversaries. I wonder how people would be interested in playing as Dark Eldar pirates ascharacters. After the game's release I plan on posting home brew rules for running a raiding party.
Dark Eldar pirates as player characters?
dark eldar pc ? maybe intresting i would like too see that.
BC has i think a lot of intresting stuff already but if you can get that too work i would love too know how
To be hinest I don't think Dark Eldar will be playable - except all your nice home rules of course - I myself am waiting for the Eldar RPG. Not because I want it but it seems like a inevitable next step in the 40k RPG publications. To be honest I was surprised that there was BC first. I would have guessed there would come a book for Chaos that would have work with DW, or was just a 'tweak' for DW/DH/RT and the next standalone to be an Eldar RPG.
Well I'll say wait and see, after BC will be finally published if there will or will not be another line, this time for the knife ears.
According to my limited knowledge of fluff Dark Eldar aren't really cooperating types with other factions... Dark Eldar in league with ragtag chaos troupe... I would say it doesn't fit, but I'm not the RPG-police either, so if you'll come up with house rules I'll surely read them. For a band of Dark Eldar only, that would be very interesting.
That's the (twisted) beauty of the Dark Eldar, they'll stoop to working with just about anyone, when the chips are down.
Their haughty attitude tends to go right out the window when backed in to a corner, and they'll gladly use anything they can to get a leg up on their rivals, though they usually prefer to just manipulate others in to doing their dirty work for them, and then disposing of the pitiful dupes afterward.
So yeah I could see playable Dark Eldar characters. Maybe they've been exiled from Commorragh, maybe they've come to their senses and realized that Chaos holds the only future for their race, or maybe they're just looking for a new thrill.
And they are willing to work with others for payment. Usually in slaves.
I wouldn't say that the Dark Eldar will stoop to working with anyone when the chips are down. They'll work with anyone as long as it benefits them. In the latest DE codex there is a story about how Dark Eldar allied with Tau to fight against the Tyranids and they asked for a 'Cultural Exchange Delegation' in return...which they turned into Grotesques and other Fleshcrafted beasts of war.
When the Tau found out and tried to counter attack, the Dark Eldar vanished, led a full scale planetary raid on the equivalent of a Paradise world, and left laughing all the way home with their new slaves...

well that's awesome form troupe cohesion ;-)
Yeah that's the point.
When things get really desperate, it doesn't take much of a benefit to you to find yourself working alongside a Chaos Marine.
I'm saying as far as playing a Dark Eldar is concerned, you might be one of the scrubs, who's running around the galaxy because you wouldn't last half a second in Commorragh.
While at higher levels you could basically be running your own small Kabal, working with the others in exchange for large hauls of slaves, or other compsensation.
They're Scum, and they're not too picky when the circumstances are right.
@ Blood Pact
ok, under the circumstances you now laid down I'd say play Dark Eldar. If the whole group is composd of scum, that's on the run just from different types of bashing I think it would be great. Take Renegate Characters in from the Legions instead of some who are aspiering fro greatness and I'd say it could work wonderfully.
i`m not saying there wouldn`t be problems and dark eldar have problem just being in real space and not the webway where they hang out 99% of the time.
and no true child of the dark city would want too be a follower of anyone. expecaly chaos (becaus big old bad slaanesh is still wanting there souls)
dark eldar don`t play well with other even there own so it be a intresting group dinamic i think
but a all out dark eldar campain sounds like something fun just too ponder away the time

Wanted for a Heresy they didn't commit, a crack team of renegades survives today as soldiers of fortune...
plz don`t even joke like that i got at least 2 maybe 3 ppl in my rp party that would want too play renegade mercenary warriors if i would let them get away with it

Well, why not? It's perfectly viable.
not that part but they will want too make if feel a-team like too at the same time

It could be worse. I mean if they wander around spitting out Heavy Bolter shells, totally missing guardsmen but making Chimeras exploding and stuff, that could be awesome if played tongue in cheek.
Otherwise you might end up with 4 Khornate Death Cult Assassin type characters who enjoy eating pizza and are the sworn enemies of the "Foot Kabal"
Nah, you totally know that Donatello was Tzeentch, and Michelangelo was Slaanesh!
thank you for that horibal mental pic i now have in my brain. i might never recover
on the other hand..... uhm.....

On a slightly different note...do you suppose it was a Lord of Change that was bound into Liono's Sword of Omens?

Apparently Splinter was a Nurgle worshiping Skaven. Notice the symbols of Nurgle on him from the 80's cartoon.

OMG, it's true!
I totally have to run a TMNT Black Crusade game now...
oh god the horor
good luck with that
A Dark Eldar game would need a party who all can play chaotic neutral (a D&D term) and have a good Agility with Dodge. I don't think Fellowship would be very high. I would be hard for some players and GM's but fun.
I was reading 'Shadow Point' by Gordon Rennie were Chaos and the DE work together to do in a small Imperial fleet with some non DE ships. It is one of the better 40K novels as far as I'm concerned. We could also think about Elder reavers that are no 100% DE or non DE ( may be Craft world would be a better term) and the adventures of them!

Chaotic Neutral? More like Neutral Evil. I don't think a CN person in D&D can get away with kidnapping people to torture them or flesh crafted slaves into pain crazed monstrosities.
I could also see Dark Eldar as having some degree of Fellowship. Their society involves a lot of scheming and back biting, and while they are cruel, I am sure that politics, making allies, deceiving enemies, etc. plays a major role in their society along with violence.
According to the DE codex, Comorragh has other races within it aside from the Dark Eldar themselves. Granted that many of these are either slaves, torture victims, or reluctant arena fighters, but there are also unscrupulous mercanaries who will work with the Dark Eldar for a short time. It is not totally outside the realms of possibility that a Chaos band could go there and come out with all of their organs intact, rather dependent on the local kabal, Dark Eldar noble, Hellion chief etc... they are consorting with. In the same way, a Dark Eldar would be able to travel with such a group for experience, or just the kick of it, especially if they were in a position of authority or need to get out of the dark city for a time.
chaos followers in the dark city. sure if you can life like 5 seconds in a place where the politics are nastier then necromunda time 100. gang warfare is like a contstand thing. and there are a 100 ways too die on almost any street.
but maybe the higher level ones might get an invite and will have too be very careful not too become the nice new tropy in the arena?
othere then that give the dark eldar plenty of slaves drugs and other fun things and there your friends (in as much as DE have friends) for a while
dark eldar hanging with chaos. how would this be in there intrest? DE is al about me, me, me not about what deamon nr 8463 whats me too instead on deamon 3920 wants me too do.
i`m not saying it cant be done, i`m just saying i`m not seeing it happen anytime soon
all DE troep that would be a maybe but they would be some of the most out of luck youngster DE ever

Or the time the Dark Eldar assisted Craftworld Iyanden when it was attacked by a massive Ork fleet. They only helped their craftworld cousins because they liked their forays into the Infinity Circuit.
