Heavy Combat Walkers

By player359820, in Dust Tactics

I have the Jagdluther with its card, and the card states that it is a Heavy Walker. Do we know if they are actually going to release the Jagluther at a later date or what? And what happened to make it an illegal unit? That is what I can't figure out.

Does anyone have a point value for it?

I've got the original card and it's 10pts, so 100 in today's money. As to why its unofficial it was some sort of disagreement between Dust Models and FFG, probably didn't want two teams working on the same rules and coming up with different values.

probably more along the lines of FFG is not getting any of that money so they are not allowing you to use the Dust Models minatures. I have seen a lot of people use the Forge World arguement, but I always thought they were owned by GW.

Up until recently, they were different companies under the same umbrella sort of, and they did compete and kinda screw with each other. Their relationship is much more cohesive nowadays.

I dont buy the fallback 'FFG is money hungry' arguement, it has been implied that it was balancing issues and with organized play, FFG wanted all models to come from one source.

The correct answer is that the cards were statted for the Beta test. Unbalanced and broken . Now dont let that get you down little buckaroo cause some more heavy walkers may be moseying over the horizon soon from FFG and they will be playable. . . Mosey that is just one really weird sounding word ,Think I will mosey over to the bar and have another pitcher of Jager and Mountain Dew. Skoal!

Well, I think it is a crock of 100% bull-shite that I was able to get the Jagdluther and FFG did not make it palyable. It is not a matter of being down or blue, its a matter of shelling out the cash for a figure I can't play. I have been a long time supporter of FFG, but if they continue to let things like this go unanswered or unrepaired, then I can't vouch for how long I will be buying their product much less promoting it to others where they can't seem to be bothered to promote it.

Why is it that every 'Grand Inquisitor' we get on this forum has a chip on their shoulder about FFG?

I was thinking that myself.....weird.....

Anyhow, I would like to see some 4 leg monsters show up as heavies...but that's just me.

This is uncanny. I noted to a friend how unlike Grand Inquistor Kris Fulminarex was in his writing style, and was assured that Grand Inquisitor was a common Dakka name title... and yet, wow. Fulminarex, no insult meant, we just had a Grand Meltdown a while back.

Also, it is bull, but not bull that can't simply be ignored by playing the model at 100 points.

FFG says that we can't use Dust Games models for balance. Asking questions about rules take a long time because Dust Games makes the rules and they have to be sent to them... So if Dust Games makes the rules, why are their units unbalanced..?

There is a picture of a super heavy walker in the SeeLowe book, just the background, I think Poyet posted a 1/35 picture of it, and it looks very nice. and it has 4 legs too, Hanomag.

Here it is again because its so **** pretty gran_risa.gif . It was originally taken at a wonderfest.

I cannot wait to paint this beast up in a late war "ambush" scheme

Do you like to spend money on something you can't legally use in a game? If that is a chip on my shoulder than YES, I guess I do have one. But my chip did not originate with a mere Jagdluther, it goes further back than that. But please, give me an example of a time where you spent $70 on something for a game it turned out you could not play with? GW did it, WOTC did it, so I am sure you have had your share of it. It might sit well with you, perhaps you feel it is ok, maybe even pleasant if you get used to it, but I do not.

So yes, I have a chip on my shoulder for being wonked.

I did a Wonderfest search to see what other figures there were, like the ones for the legs you can see at far left. But no luck.

This is cool. It will be nice to have it. This is the Kongisluther I think. What do you think the guns are? 200mm? Or what??

It rarely happens to me, because I research what I buy. How long ago did you buy it, because the press release from Paolo was released months and months ago? Did you think to ask over here or anywhere whether they'd be legal to use since you weren't buying it from FFG? Don't be angry at FFG because you blindly bought something you couldn't use.

Yes it is the Konigsluther. It looks like it is mounting twin Pak 44s (12.8cm Knaone 81/3). Sorry it is the best pic I could find at the moment.

And Fulminarex you spent your money on a model that they have said since day 1 is not game legal. It has been posted by them in their news, it has been discussed in numerous threads ( at least one of which you have posted in), has been up for much debate here and in various other forums, blogs, and on Facebook. Its hardly FFGs fault that you went out and bought it. You did not get shilled, you did not get wonked, and you did not get taken. So there is no need for the chip man as games are supposed to be fun. If it causes you that much grief then maybe you should re-evaluate. I have 2 Jagdluthers, 3 Fury of Ivans, a Barking Dog, and 6 Ottos ( 4 are going to be KV-47s) and Im not complaining. We will use them as we see fit until the Official rules come out it is really no big deal. FFG just gives you the game it is up to you and your group to have fun with it if you want. The game is fairly new give them a chance to catch up and Im sure it will be worth it.

On a more positive note I would expect to see the Jagdluther in the game sooner rather than later as it is the posterchild on the cover of the new Core Set. Until then use it as is, tweak the points and stats, or redo it completely with your friends...

Searching for Wonderfest pics can be a pain as most of the good pics are on Japanese sites. You usually just stumble across them looking for something else or have bookmarked them. Check out some of the SF3D, Gundam, Mecha modelling sites.

It was in fact the first one I bought, because it was and is the coolest one. I guess I should have thought to ask you before I posted my concerns to FFGs official customer service line so I was not wasting my time. I will make sure in future I plan all my future purchases through you since you are clearly so well informed about such things.

What would the stats on 2 of these monsters be? I have not reached a point where I will reevaluate the game yet. I am giving them a chance, which with them I have always done, since the Blue Planet days.

No problem, i'd be glad to help!

Ok, you are on:

So how many revised sets should I purchase? I am thinking 3.

lmao

ok, i would say 2, but thats because we use the buddy system here (Ally player pairs with an Axis player, splits the cost), and I have yet to run into a situation where I need more than 2 units of something. Now, if you are planning on playing Dust Warfare, then more than 2 may be appealing since my research finds that it will use variable unit size..

4 is the number I have chosen . That will give me 3 Laras to customize into my own special characters and there will be Hans which to my untrained eye seem to have the same armament as Otto and some Allied power Armor to work magic on .I am really stoked for whats in the pipe for this game.

Well, the problem is there is no support here, so I have to have all the bits to play. 4 is probably the route I will go. Now if we had support here, I could get more players, but right now it is 100% me.
