When FFG will bring back the sci-fi version of Dust? AT-43?

By mostrojoe, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

I hope AT-43 will be back under the FFG brand, it is going to be a great sci-fi miniature game, it is the precursor of Dust!

FFG don't own the rights to AT-43.
Years ago they had the distribution rights for AT-43 and Confrontation in the US and that adventure did not go as well as one might have hoped for.
So I doubt they will be in a hurry to get the rights.

If FFG buy the rights to AT-43 it will be to put it in a hole so deep nobody will ever find it again.
AT-43 was (and still is) the closest any sci-fi wargame has been to being perfect (I'm talking core rules and original 4 armies) none of the big players would want it to be released by another of the big players to compete with their games.

I am a huge fan of AT-43, that's why I hope FFG will buy the rights to re-launch it in great style.

The rumour was on this forum but other than that nothing. No conformation in any way that they did. Even the topic didn't link to anything that implied anything.

yeah it was a dakka rumor, and I don't trust anything from that cesspool of scum and villainy

Its another great setting that needs some tweaking to be really awesome. I am sad that FFG doesnt support more of their great IPs with RPGs. Twilight Imperium. Dust. AT-43. Android. Back in the early 2000s each of these would have gotten a D20 supplement. Oh how I hated those days. Oh how I miss those days. LOL!

I wouldn't call AT-43 the precursor to Dust. When Paolo Parente first met the owner of Rackham, he marketed Dust to him, the guy liked it and said it'll be their scifi game. But when Rackham hired Parente they came out with AT-43 instead, meaning they somehow didn't like the Dust setting and changed it to a more futuristic one.

It was a European company not wanting to do a game focusing on Nazis. I do understand that issue.

I was about to say the same.

Also is very unpopular to still talk in Europe about was here is considered like a European Civil War, it is not only a matter of nazis but the idea that is bad to put in commerce games with strong stereotypes even if they are fantasy. The historical games are one thing, the sci-fi ones are another.

You should be a European to understand that, I don't know if Americans can really catch it.

Lived in Europe for 5 years, I understand it quite well. And Im American.

I have over 700 at43 figures and enjoy playing the game. Since its such a good game and very self contained i dont care either way if its reproduced. My only concern is it gets screwed up in a new version. But like I said its very self contained right now after all its a game so it can be played however you wish.

Im enjoying dust now just as much.

Actually I believe Rachkam was a Frence company and we all know how they handle interactions with Nazi's!!!!

I have a good few AT43 minis too and would love to see it relaunched. Not easy venture but to make it kind of rules compatible with DUST, both versions, would be great. We could have two settings with one (actually two) system. They could even use some AT43 (Redblok obviously) for DUST and redesign them for AT43...
