do the rules and state builds for other enemys like the tau and what not from other games work if i were to use them in rouge trader or vise versa
other races
wouldn`t know why not. then again cant for the life of me think one would want tau in rogue trader
The Tau don't feature in the Rogue Trader setting, though the Kroot do.
The TAu DO feature in the Deathwatch setting, particularly in the "Mark of the Xenos" book, which provides full rules for them. The Deathwatch rules system is slightly different to RT, but not much, and they're easliy transferrable from one setting to the next.
The Forthcoming Achilles Crusade sourcebook for DW will presumably give enough background to the Jericho Reach region of space to enable RT campaigns to be set there if necessary. The two regions of space (Koronus Expanse/Jericho Reach) are joined by a warp gate, so there's plenty of scope for crossover campaigns involving Tau and Rogue Traders.
Hope that helps!
unless your talking tau schips havn`t seen any kind of stat line for those. dealing with tau on space stacions or groundside trading shouldn`t be hard too do
and hey flying your schip around durring the crusade might be a intresting thing too do. instead of exploring the expance, join the war effort (and try and make some profit out of it)

Easy pickings, from memory a lot of their ships where, slow, lumbering, badly shielded complete buckets of crap that are full of filthy blue weeboos that don't like a bit of cold steel and we'd rob them blind of what high tech goodies are onboard, then sell it for a profit... about the only decent big ships they had on their side where the Demiurg, in which case you probably want to run away as they will **** you up.

Actually, I think the Tau would be great in Rogue Trader. One needs a couple of races to actually trade with, and the Tau are often presented as being willing to engage in trade!
As for their ships, BFG Armada indeed presented their early ships as resembling bigger versions of the Discovery from Arthur C Clarke/Stanley Kubrick's 2001...large, clunky, relatively primitive ships like this:-

However, more recent Tau ships are substantially sleeker and more powerful, like this:-

Their tech is weak in some areas (warp drives) and they are hamstrung (but not paralyzed) in terms of massive expansion by their lack of Navigators, but their weapon technology is actually pretty powerful.
However, since the Tau are on the opposite side of the Imperium from the setting of Rogue Trader, I don't believe you'll ever see info for the Tau in Rogue Trader books.
And then the Tau discovered another stable warp gate.

I think there is scope for crossover campaigns: given that the Jericho Reach links to the Koronus Expanse, it would seem to me that there is certainly the potential for RT players to operate within both settings. Indeed one could argue that FFG has gone out of its way to give GMs the material need to create such crossover campaigns. Otherwise why bother to detail the Imperial Navy officers garrisoning the warp gate in Battlefleet Koronus?
EDIT: Though I accept that we may not see Tau material in RT books, so I guess you're right.
Rolling natural 00 on a warp Nav Test on a vessel with Tempermental Warp Engine history, and the Reach is the perfect place to deposit the party, but the lack of ship profiles for the Tau and 'Nids would make it kind of awkward. At best, you could add a slip of a century or so back in time, so the 'Nids haven't shown, and the Tau aren't present in any strength.
As for trading with the Tau, the Water Caste would give you a hard time on any deal, and there's certainly no black market - the Kroot had to leave the area to ply their trade.
To be fair, early in most games like that, you wouldn't need them.
Since it's a battlefield you're roaming around, and any Tau or Tyranid (or Chaos) ships you encounter will probably be in sufficient numbers to destroy you.
A weak excuse I'll admit, but I'm confident we'll get further stats for all kinds of stuff eventually (just that some things will take a long **** time).
