By Katman, in Dust Tactics

Coming soon to a table top near you. Dust Warfare is a tabletop miniatures game designed by veteran game designer Andy Chambers . Heres the link

Those who wanted the TT rules here they come. They even get their own forum for Dust Warfare.

Yeah! I can't wait!

All I can say is finally...

I'm just hoping that not all the models in this book are snow-themed, getting tired of all the snow in DUST now...

IM sure they will be the studio models but the ones from the newer Core set arent painted in a snow them.

As far as rules hell yeah I cannot wait. This will bring in new players quick who have been holding off because of the tiles.

We were expecting that with last gameplay changes in dust tactics . I hope that means that FFg is going to support Dust fully now . But I am sceptic it sounds like redo ST:M ..... from ST review "SST's game sequence is basically IGOUGO. That means that one player completes all their units' actions then the other player gets to take his/her turn. There is a possibility for one player to interrupt the other player (reactions) that I'll cover later. On your turn, you activate each of your units until you have none left with which to act.

Each unit gets two actions on its turn. Actions can be Move, Shoot, Charge or Ready. You can do actions in any order (e.g., move then move, shoot then move, move then shoot, etc.) as long as you only do two actions. If you complete an action within 10" of enemy model(s), those enemy model(s) typically can react. Reaction allows them to defend themselves, move away from your advance or other applicable actions their player may choose. This is something of a breakaway from typical IGOUGO sequences where you are basically stuck watching your troops get shot or other unfavorable actions without being able to react until it's your turn.

The 'reaction' is one of the neater conventions in SST. It's hardly a revolutionary concept (sort of a modified overwatch for older Warhammer fans), but its inclusion does help shake the game up and separate it from the rest of the current pack. Basically if your opponent ends an action within 10" of one/more of your models, you can have your models (within 10" of the enemy that acted) take a reaction. The reactions available vary with army type and player choice but range from taking a pot-shot at someone silly enough to get that close to pulling back with those models, possibly to avoid a close combat."..Taking into account that Andy has limited time to work on rules

The newer ones are not snow scheme, but are on the white bases (seen in pics on the Dust Warfare description page -___-) Maybe I will finally have someone to game with....

Yay Andy Chambers didnt make the squat 40k codex yay.

Thank god it is him who is making the rules. I like a lot of his rules hes developed over the years when at GW. Wish they would have let him be more freely on the rules as he wanted but o well at least its in Dust

Wow, this will make so many people sooo happy happy.gif Wonder if they will demo it at GenCon......

All right, THIS is what I've been waiting for- Andy Chambers and Dust- this looks promising!

FFG has stated there will be a demo of this at GenCon. While I am not so much a table top person myself, I know there are a lot of people that are and want this. Great news is that you are able to use your army for both versions so who knows, maybe I will look into the table top version as well.

Game on;

yahh this is what i was hoping for must get my minis painted

This is good news, obviously. Now some of the units we all feared might get made obsolete seem to have a chance.

Dust Warfare= Woot! X Infinty

It looks like a Starship Trooper rehash. It looks like one person will take a full turn and then your opponent. I like the more chess feel of DT, I move a pawn and then you move a pawn aspect.

Looking for speculation from folks. Do you think the miniatures will ALL be available as smaller box sets? I love the miniatures of the basic game but don't have any interest in the board version. Will I have to buy the big box to get those miniatures or do you think FF will break the box up to entice TT gamers like myself.

One thing on my wishlist will be that the Dust Games models wil be included in the forcelists

Contents of the board version are available as small boxes except for the heroes. But it would be silly to buy those instead because the board version is priced at about half, similar to how other TT games price their starter boxes.

So someone explain what will make this a better experience than dust tactics? besides the obvious eye candy!

games will take longer? larger space needed? more money needed to play? tape measure needed?

rules lawyering becomes an issue i.e that's not 6 inches, I see 6 1/8 inches illegal move! no no no, that walker was not facing that way, he can only shoot in that direction(towards a salt shaker acting as a lookout tower)

If you don't like the idea of a tabletop Dust game then stick with Dust Tactics. Nobody is forcing you to play Warfare.

Yes there will be rules disputes but every game has them.

I like the eye candy, if you can free move(no measure constraints) your troops like in real life and rely on reactive interrupts to balance stuff that would make for explosive game play.

With games where movement is measured I find it best to have a group of players who are all there to have fun first and win games second.
So far all my wargames terrain has been Alien world or Fantasy land so it will be interesting to get to work on some real world terrain. I'm now thinking about the various things I can make. I think Saving Private Ryan will have to be watched tonight for inspiration on terrain.

I'll give it a try probably, just finding the right people as you say. Send some pics of the terrain stuff you've done.

Test NUTS! by two hour games.

When am bored with standard stuff or alone iam using my Dust minis for that as well . But for now its just WW2 cinematic- we waiting for weird war supplement.

You can have great terrain on standard board , its not that hard to keep 9cm//9cm constrains (i ve seen great 3d terrain on hex board), check facebook dust page for inspiration , Kris dust is warrr blog on board game geek , or http://twc-dust-tactics.blogspot.com .

I build some 3d cardboard ruins for dust board ( and some resized normandy houses fo GK) and they look ok, i dont have time for anything more involving right now but iam getting there. I want 3D submarine for scenarios , and 3d landing ships iam also thinking of geting this http://www.gamecraftminiatures.com/shopping/category/100-foam-board-series.aspx for building mission.

And finaly when you play with grown ups out side turnament enviro , measure and LOS discusion are not t really a problem.

Didn't see that one coming ...

That's great news !!

Eeeeek, I've just seen the price of Dust Warfare, £32 - a bit expensive just to try them out. Hope they upload a lite version so I can see if its the sort of rules I want to buy.
