Warhammer Online

Hi all, I was looking at the great concept art on the MMO website and was wondering how accurate is the MMO world and what are some good aspects that can be used in my games?

More specifically the drawn maps (can they be added to my game and what locations do they fit), and the Egyptian style concepts -- where do they fit into the world?

Ugh. I played WAR for a few years, and as a lifelong player of WFB, the term 'accurate' is not one I would apply to the MMO.

It has some amazing concept art though, and some fun PvP gameplay (half the time anyway). The world looks gritty and realistic, but the maps are not accurate, and primarily serve the purpose of providing an arena for players to fight each other... with some quests off to the side. So the drawn maps do not really reflect the actual layout of the Old World, particularly in terms of scale. An example is like how Praag is right next door to the Reikland.

And don't even get me on to Skaven being allies to the forces of Order :P

In terms of good aspects to use, I think you've already found it - the imagery! The art book that came with the collectors edition is pretty cool, pictures of items, buildings, armour, people. Very cool. I plan on making use of the banner designs for various races, character images, buildings and icons. Check out the fansite kits for some of these.

sometimes my players use it to ilustrate the portrait of his characters. Very good for dwarfs, priests of sigmar and bright wizards

Yes, the art in the artbook that came with the collector's edition is rather excellent for setting the mood or for giving your players something to latch onto visually when you're describing a scene or creature. The game itself was *meh* but if you can find the art book or the collector's edition for cheap somewhere, it's worth picking up. The collector's edition also comes with the graphic novel which has a few nice illustrations in it.
