I was only joking!

By The Hungarian, in Tide of Iron

Thanks to the fella who sent me the link to TOI errata, But get this...

I somewhat facetiously commented that FFG could bring out a hard back volume of all their mistakes but it would probably be full of errors.

Well you boys have really risen to the piss take:

Days of the Fox errata states equipment (i.e AT gun) in a hex containing at least one entrenchment gains +1 defence

The very next paragraph follows with this:

AT guns are vehicles and may therefore never enter a building, pillbox or entrenchment.

I'm beginning to see my mistake now. TOI is a fantasy boardgame, with enchanted fog that magically clings to moving units and transmogrifying equipment/vehicles.

Oh! Oh! I've got a good one. What about a spell deck?

Yeah!!

Here's one you can have for free to get you started:

Trippy Hippies - Your wizard zaps the entire german horde turning them from murderous nazi fascists into stoned pacifistic hippies who decorate their panzers with flowers and trundle of to set up a commune for misunderstood dictators.

War's over boys! we're 'goin home.

Exemplary work boys. I can see why your products are so expensive now, you've got to keep those proof reading monkeys in bananas somehow.

Not sure what you see as the problem?

If a gun is in the same hex as an entrenchment or pillbox, it gains +1 cover...'the same hex' is the operative term here, it doesn't need to actually be in the entrenchment to gain that bonus (because it can't enter the entrenchment...but it can be in the same hex).

In fact, this is an excellent way to deploy guns. Set a squad in the entrenchment (so they get the cover bonus and can fire the gun still) and the gun gets the benefit of +1 cover as well.

It is very difficult to get all the mistakes and unclear language out of text. It takes a team effort that should certainly be undertaken seriously. Unfortunately, finding and correcting a mistake doesn't always mean it comes back from the printer corrected. Certainly more effort should be made by everyone involved, including those who have trouble understanding the difference in meaning between the usage of different language; for example, in an entrenchment and in a hex with an entrenchment.

I couldn't believe that one myself... gran_risa.gif

This guy is blasting the game and it appears that he doesn't even know how to play the game... Brilliant! sorpresa.gif

But don't take my reply here too harshly, "I was only joking!" gui%C3%B1o.gif

To the Hungarian, if you think board games have mistakes, try some computer games, at least boardgame companies publish errata. You cannot change errors on a CD computer game so those companies simply ignore the problem. We need a spell deck for them also. One card would read " The wizard changes them to an osteridge and they immediately stick their head in the sand."

Got to say the I really appreciated your commentary, particularly the Trippie Hippies. I laughed till I cried. It got me back into a good frame of mind from a hard day at work. Thanks

Am I the only one under the impression that we should probably not get The Hungarian started on road movement and tank traps ? preocupado.gif
