Using all titles and more players

By Arionel, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

For casual play only, obviously.

Since there are six multiplayer titles availible, would it be safe to assume that 6 players could play? Would there be any balancing issues or would power have to be increased/decreased or other such affects? With each player representing each major house as well?

I would say the multiplayer aspect of this game works best with 4 players, and that's the size it's recommended for. Technically, you could play a multiplayer game with six players, but it's far from optimal. It'll take ages to get through a turn, and it's just hard to keep track of the cards of five other players. Then again, I just recently learned that some players are fine with 5-player games (which I already find terrible), so six players is not that much of a stretch. As for the houses, there's no requirement that each player play a different house, but of course you can do so.

I played several times 6 player game and it was to slow. much better with 5(even more fun for me than with 4 players)

For 6 players, I would recommend the Kingsmoot variant instead. With the normal titles, the availability of choice of titles for the last player plays a big part in the turn-by-turn strategy of the game. At 6 players, the last player will have no choice whatsoever on his/her title that turn, and will have his/her strategy for that turn determined by the 4th or 5th player (depending on the titles left), which I find not too good.

Six players is definitely possible.

However, it's only fun if you're playing with people who know the rules and who are willing to play quickly (well, if not 'quick', at least to keep things snappy).

If you get a table full of people who are desperate to be competitive and to analyse every last possible ramification of each move, then it will take you all night to finish.

That said, if you do have a playgroup who plays for fun and who like to get through their turns with the minimum amount of fuss, then it's a really good experience.

if i am correct there is a 3-6 game version in the King of the Sea expansion (greyjoy) which is kinda different from normal melee , and more quicker (well at least sometimes :P ) . you should try that :)
