Discarding Duke

By Weyoun, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Most likely a simple (and old) question, but it was one of those which became an argument amongst my group the other day.

When you discard Duke and your Sanity gets fully restored; does it get restored to the maximum you had BEFORE Duke (which gave you +1) or to the increased value?

Thanks!!!

Only your current sanity (without Dukes bonus) will be restored. It's the same with the stamina guy. Forgett his name actually.

Well, even if it got filled to the +1 maximum, the act of releasing Duke forfeits your +1 maximum, and you can't have sanity or stamina higher than your maximum (unless specially noted), so it would drop.

So, if I get this straight...

A character's Maximum Sanity is +1, though the character doesn't actually "gain" the Sanity chit until the character pays a visit to the Asylum or the Psychologist. Thus, if the character's Maximum Sanity (w/o Duke) is "6", and after a battle is currently at "2", discarding Duke eliminates the opportunity for the character to a.) have a Maximum Sanity of "7", but does fully-restore the charater to "6".

Yep. Note that if you get Duke during set-up (Pete or Leo Anderson; Leo and the +1 max Stamina ally also works), then you do get the benefit, so Pete starts at 5/6.

You forgot CHARLIE KANE! Why didn't you mention that Charlie Kane could start with Duke, Dam?

What's so special about Charlie Kane? Hmm... what a curious omission...

You can't expect Dam to understand how to use Duke, as his own max san is one, and that's only because he has Duke ;') that's why he can't imagine discarding him.
