I'm thinking about getting this as a monster cup... But maybe it's too big?

Yes - but ask for the same design on a standard monster cup.

Oh my god... That's brilliant (or I am retarded, or both). I'm going to message that person and ask her if she could make something more suitable for the monster cup.

Awesome. Let us know what she says!

Also on Etsy, Marsbarn has made loads of AH monster cups/bags (or large square bottomed dice bags) if you need help with bag dimensions etc.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/marsbarn

She seems to be on holiday until next month but you can see past designs by clicking on "sales". Hopefully the tentacle person can work out what you need.

I'd be interested to see a picture when it's done.

I see you can even buy a tentacle blanket.

Okay, so I got a response and sent another response. I'll let you guys know what's up when the discussion is over (whether by copy pasting or by summarizing).

Hey guys, I wanted to post here about this idea. I currently don't make any small bags like this but I can definitely look into it. I'll be out of town the next 5 days vending a show so I'll get back to you when I return. Let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks!

Oh good ;') looks like you can just post ideas and requests here (and I won't have to be an intermediary).

In case it isn't clear to someone skimming these posts, raygunrobin is the owner of the etsy shop I linked to.

Well, that's pretty cool that she responded here, directly to the interested persons.

That's cuz I AM pretty cool. My official store is at http://store.raygunrobyn.com for interested persons. So talk to me more about these bags you're looking for. Dimensions, etc.

Uh... Eep. That would require measurements, wouldn't it.

Tibs? Or anyone with access to a ruler and will to use it, what would be a good sized monster bag (with room to grow, presuming there will be expansions in the future)?

That's no where near as cool as your warn out Barnes & Noble bag :P

::Laughter:: thanks. But, seriously, no.

So, anyone? Please don't tell me I'm going to have to figure out how to acquire and use a tape measure (okay, maybe the use part won't be so hard).

This is just a guess but I'd say something .4515 cubits wide by .04 rods deep by 254,000 microns high should suffice. Well, plus or minus 1563 ten thousandths of a Paris foot.

I'm assuming that's a joke, said the English major.

It works out to approximately 8" x 8" x 10" which I assume is more than large enough to accommodate all the monster tokens and still have enough room for future additions. Well, plus or minus 1563 ten thousandths of a Paris foot of course.

The bags on Etsy are 4" x 4" x 5" but I like 'em big personally.

Not sure what measurements or pattern someone would need to actually make a monster bag/cup, I ordered mine from marsbarn on etsy who had already worked out this from many who had ordered before me.

However rough measuring of my marsbarn bag is about the same measurements as you mentioned:

Each of the 4 sides is about 11cm wide and 12cm tall

The base is about 12cm square.

This leaves the bag about half full when all the monsters are in, which seems ideal for a good rummage.

On mine the 4 side pieces all join up in points to form the flat base, and round the top is a drawstring and toggle.

Like so:

Flat-Bottomed

Flat bottomed.

It only LOOKS bottomless.

It only LOOKS bottomless.

This is EVERY chit possible, including Spawns and Masks.

This is EVERY monster chit possible, including ones that have no business being in there (Spawns). You could even throw in every Clue, Dollar, Heart, Brain, and Slider, and it STILL won't be full.

The reason I think a bigger cup would be better is that the tokens won't be piled on each other as much. Instead of having to dig under and pull up to mix you could just swish them around a bit. I assume it would cause less wear on the tokens and would be easier to shuffle. This is all conjecture though.

I'm kind of assuming the same, plus I don't ike that the sides stand up so firmly, it will make it harder to store the bag in the boxes.

You may have a point, but my chits are all in really fine shape, even after several dozen games (at least) in this bag. (I would be more worried about the BAG than the chits.) My hand can go in as "a claw" and barely touch the sides. In order to avoid surface chits, it's not that hard to dig down for a deeper one without having to jostle or shuffle the pile around. The bigger your bag becomes, the shallower your chit pile and the wider your surface becomes. Too big, and you're constantly grabbing old "trophies" previously traded in.

It could be that your concern is completely valid, but I'd bet that there's a size of bag at which it becomes negligible, and it CAN'T be that far from the size of this bag. gui%C3%B1o.gif

(Too bad I just gave back that camera...)

It folds up into virtually FLAT. If the Sign is Front, you simply fold Left and Right in half (all the way down to the fabric "X" on the bottom) and sandwich them between Front and Back as they touch together. The bottom of the bag folds into a triangle (quarter-size of the open square), and the whole thing lays right on top of the folded board.

...unless you're someone who's crammed four expansions into one box. Not sure I can help you then. preocupado.gif

Can you fold it with the monsters inside? (My monsters like staying inside their bag, where it is nice and cool, and corpses for them to eat will be preserved longer).

. . .

Uh, no. You could pull the dice bag closed with the drawstring and toggle-lock it shut; with all monsters in the bag, it's a pretty snug lockup. But the resulting "beanbag" is still about 2 inches high. That won't fit in the space above the Innsmouth board (being the box with the most overhead space), but it would fit in an inverted Miskatonic Insert (two pockets instead of one).

I don't have that problem. I keep all my Cup monsters in two origami boxes (eight even stacks, four fit perfectly in a box), and all the Spawns, Masks, and "conditionals" (like all the extra BG Dark Young) fit in the smallest plastic pocket in my Kingsport box.
